Eltham North
Eltham North is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 21 km north-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Banyule and Shire of Nillumbik local government areas. Eltham North recorded a population of 6,830 at the 2021 census. Originally an outlying rural part of Eltham, it became a separate locality with the opening of the Eltham North Primary School in 1925. At that time the locality was known as Glen Park, and the name was recorded in street directories until the 1960s. Nevertheless, the postal district was Eltham North. Diamond Creek separates Eltham North from Eltham on its eastern edge. Eltham North shares the same postcode as Eltham (3095). History Eltham North Post Office opened around 1934 and closed in 1966. Diamond Creek Trail
__NOTOC__ The Diamond Creek Trail is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians, which follows Diamond Creek through the north eastern outer suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It generally follows the creek and railway to Eltham where it joins the Main Yarra Trail (also called Yarra River Trail). It is mostly flat with some minor rises. Scenery includes park lands, the creek valley, and semi-rural suburbia. The trail is fully paved with either concrete or asphalt and is not much affected by tree roots. It is a trail for leisurely riding rather than high-speed commuting and is shared with walkers, family groups, children, dogs (on leash) and the elderly. The path is narrow in parts and has many added 90 degree bends to vary interest. The trail is poorly signposted and there are a two points where the unwary traveller can become easily lost. City Of Banyule
The City of Banyule is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It was created under the Local Government Act 1989 and established in 1994 as an amalgamation of former councils. It has an area of and lies between 7 and 21 km from central Melbourne. In 1994 it had a population of 116,000. In June 2018 Banyule had a population of 130,237. The Yarra River runs along the City's southern border while its western border is defined by Darebin Creek.
