Else Poulsson
Else Poulsson (24 March 1909 – 10 February 2002) was a Norwegian painter and textile artist. Biography Poulsson was born in Rjukan in Telemark, Norway. She was the daughter of Jens Jørgensen Poulsson and Vivi Lange, and was a sister of Colonel Jens-Anton Poulsson and a niece of architect Magnus Poulsson. Poulsson was educated at ''Statens kvinnelige industriskole'' and at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry, alongside Enevold Thømt, in Oslo and undertook further studies in Sweden and Finland. From 1929 to 1954 she worked for ''Den Norske Husflidsforening''. Among her designs are several decorations for Oslo City Hall, including a carpet design, ''St. Hallvard'', which was woven by Else Halling. Poulsson also produced designs for the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York City. She died in Bærum during 2002. Else Halling
Else Halling (3 July 1899 – 14 February 1987) was a Norwegian textile artist. She is known for her reconstructions of old Norwegian tapestry, and taught weaving in Trondheim, Drammen and Oslo. She decorated public institutions such as the Royal Palace in Oslo, the Akershus Castle, the Stortinget building, and the Oslo City Hall. Personal life Halling was born in Øvre Eiker to a priest, Johannes Swensen, and Marie Halling. She was a granddaughter of priest and labour movement pioneer, Honoratus Halling, and niece of educator, Sigurd Halling. She died in Oslo in 1987. Career Halling was educated at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Kristiania, and eventually made further studies in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France and Austria. Bærum () is a municipality in the Greater Oslo Region in Norway that forms an affluent suburb of Oslo on the west coast of the city.
