Else Heiberg
Else Cathrine Heiberg (November 5, 1910 – November 25, 1972) was a Norwegian actress. Heiberg started her professional career as a pianist and dance teacher, and she made her stage debut at Bergen's National Theater in 1934 in the role of a young boy in Finn Bø's ''Selv i tider som disse'' (Even in Times Like These). After that, she performed at Chat Noir, the Oslo New Theater, the Trøndelag Theater, and a number of other stages. From 1948 to 1951 she was engaged with Oslo's National Theater, and later again at the Oslo New Theater, before she became a permanent employee of NRK's television department for several years. From her years there she is best known for the roles as Hønse-Lovisa in the plays ''Ungen'' (The Child) and Dobbelt-Petra in ''Den store barnedåpen'' (The Great Christening), both written by Oskar Braaten, and as Meg in Brendan Behan's '' An Giall'' (The Hostage). Kragerø
Kragerø () is a List of cities in Norway, town and Municipalities of Norway, municipality in Vestfold og Telemark Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Districts of Norway, traditional regions of Grenland and the smaller Vestmar. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Kragerø. Fjernsynsteatret was a department of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) which produced plays for television broadcasting. It opened in 1960 (after about a year of experimental operation), and operated until 1990, when a major reorganisation of NRK took place. Its first leader was Arild Brinchmann, who headed the theatre from its start until 1967. Later directors were Tore Breda Thoresen from 1967 to 1980, and Magne Bleness from 1980 to 1990. "Vi vil oss et land" (lit. 'We Want Ourselves a Country') is a famous phrase in the context of Norwegian nationalism, derived from a poem by Per Sivle. It has been evoked by many different groups, including during the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany, when an arrest order was issued on the deceased Sivle. ''The Hostage'' is a 1958 English-language play, with songs, by Irish playwright Brendan Behan. It consists on a much longer text, with songs, expanded from a one-act Irish language play ''An Giall'' also by Behan. Plot ''The Hostage'' depicts the events leading up to the planned execution of an 18-year-old IRA member in a Belfast jail, accused of killing a Royal Ulster Constabulary policeman. Brendan Francis Aidan Behan (christened Francis Behan) ( ; ga, Breandán Ó Beacháin; 9 February 1923 – 20 March 1964) was an Irish poet, short story writer, novelist, playwright, and Irish Republican activist who wrote in both English and Irish. He was named by Irish Central as one of the greatest Irish writers of all time.
