Eloy Salgado
Eloy Salgado is a retired American soccer forward who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League, National Professional Soccer League and USISL. Professional In 1988, Salgado graduated from Lewisville High School where he was a 1988 Parade Magazine All American High School soccer player. On June 17, 1988, the Dallas Sidekicks selected Salgado in the third round (twenty-eight) overall of the Major Indoor Soccer League draft. He played three seasons for the Sidekicks. Salgado spent the summers of 1990 and 1991 with the Richardson Rockets of the SISL. In August, the Rockets finished runner up to the Brooklyn Italians in the 1991 U.S. Open Cup. In September 1991, Salgado signed with the Tulsa Ambush of the National Professional Soccer League. In the fall of 1992, of the Detroit Rockers signed Salgado for the upcoming NPSL season. NPSL I
The National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) was a North American professional soccer league that existed for only the 1967 season before merging with the United Soccer Association (USA) to form the North American Soccer League. It had ten charter members, nine from the United States and one from Canada. To encourage attacking play, the NPSL introduced a new standings points system that was later used by the NASL – 6 points for a win, 3 for a draw, 0 for a loss and 1 bonus point for each of the first three goals scored. The circuit's commissioner was Ken Macker, an American publisher of three Philippines-based newspapers. The World Indoor Soccer League (WISL) was a United States-based indoor soccer league that existed from 1998 to 2001 and consisted of nine teams. History After the demise of the Continental Indoor Soccer League, four of its teams decided to create a new indoor league to be called the Premier Soccer Alliance. The teams complemented their schedules with games against international teams. Tony Sanneh
Anthony Sanneh (born June 1, 1971) is an American retired professional soccer player who played as a defender or midfielder. Club career Youth and college Tony Sanneh was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota to an African father from Gambia and an American mother from Wisconsin. He attended the St. Paul Academy and Summit School and played for the local soccer team, St. Paul Blackhawks. He graduated in 1990 having been selected twice to the All State team. He went on to play college soccer for the NCAA Division I Milwaukee Panthers, where, as a striker, he became the school's all-time scoring leader, with 53 goals and 32 assists from 1990 to 1993. The Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL) was a professional indoor soccer league that played from 1993 to 1997. History In the summer of 1989 Dr Jerry Buss, the owner of the Los Angeles Lakers and California Sports, told his executive Vice President, Ron Weinstein, he was closing the doors on the Los Angeles Lazers of the Major Indoor Soccer League, MISL, and that if he ever wanted to "create a professional indoor soccer league that played in the summer months, out from under the shadow of the NBA, NFL, NHL, NCAA Football and NCAA Basketball", he would support the endeavor. American Professional Soccer League
The American Professional Soccer League (APSL) was a professional men's soccer league with teams from the United States and later Canada. It was formed in 1990 by the merger of the third American Soccer League with the Western Soccer League. It was the first outdoor soccer league to feature teams from throughout the United States since the demise of the North American Soccer League in 1984. The league was sanctioned as Division II in the United States soccer league system but was the country's ''de facto'' top professional soccer league until 1995. In 1993, the APSL applied for the vacant Division I role but lost out to Major League Soccer who would begin play in 1996. Joey Kirk (born August 21, 1965 in Santa Monica, California) is a former U.S. soccer forward who spent most of his career playing indoor soccer. He earned seven caps with the U.S. national team in 1987 and 1988. College Kirk attended Cal-State Northridge where he starred on the men's soccer team from 1983 to 1987. In 1987, he received Division II first team All American recognition and finished his career with 59 goals, a school record.
