Ellison Goodall
Ellison Goodall Bishop (born October 12, 1954) is an American former long-distance runner. She twice represented the United States at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, winning a bronze medal and leading the American women to team gold at the 1979 edition, then sharing in a team bronze medal in 1980. She attended Duke University and won All-American honours for the Duke Blue Devils in both track and cross country. She was the second woman to be inducted into Duke University athletic hall of fame. She later appeared in a documentary on former Duke track coach Al Buehler, ''Starting at the Finish Line: The Coach Buehler Story''. Goodall was only the second ever women's champion in the 10,000-meter run at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, succeeding Peg Neppel to take the title in 1978. Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. Patti Catalano Dillon (née Lyons, April 6, 1953) is a former long-distance runner from the United States who is recognized by the International Association of Athletics Federations as having set world bests in the half marathon, 30 kilometers, and 20 kilometers. Early life She grew up in Quincy, Massachusetts, in the working-class Houghs Neck neighborhood, the eldest of nine children. Her father was a second-generation Irish immigrant from Dorchester and an all-Navy boxer. Her mother, a Mi'kmaw woman, had run away from home in Nova Scotia when she was 11 and wound up in Quincy working as a nanny after lying about her age. Half Marathon World Record Progression
The world record in the half marathon has been officially recognised since 1 January 2004 by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the international governing body for the sport of athletics. The Association of Road Racing Statisticians is an independent, non-profit organization that collects, analyzes, and publishes statistics regarding road running races. The primary purpose of the ARRS is to maintain a valid list of world road records for standard race distances and to establish valid criteria for road record-keeping.
