Ellinge Castle
Ellinge Castle ( sv, Ellinge slott) is a castle in Eslöv Municipality, Scania, southern Sweden. The castle dates from the 12th century. It has whitewashed walls with 12 overnight rooms and a capacity for 24 overnight guests. The castle is surrounded by a square moat. History of the Castle Estate A description of the castle published in 1859 describes the castle as "Ellinge: Farm seat in Sallerups parish and Harjagers district of Malmo County, among one of Scania's oldest farms, has always been in the possession of high-born men." The history of the estate can be traced at least as far as the 11th century. One of the first families known to have owned Ellinge was named Kvite. The estate then passed to the house of Galen in the early 13th century, when it was found to be a defensible manor adapted both for agriculture and had ability to house many people. Eslöv Municipality
Eslöv Municipality (''Eslövs kommun'') is one of 290 municipalities of Sweden, situated in Skåne County in southern Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Eslöv. The present municipality was created in 1971, when the former ''City of Eslöv'' was amalgamated with a number of surrounding municipalities, most of them created by the earlier nationwide local government reform in 1952. The municipality has several interesting places. There are 11 castles. Hjularöd's castle was the setting of the Swedish TV classic ''Mystery of Greveholm'' broadcast by SVT. Søren Norby
Søren Norby, selfstyled as Severin Norbi (died 1530) was a Danish leading naval officer in the fleets of Danish kings Hans I and Christian II. He commandeered the greatest ship of the Danish fleet in naval wars against Sweden and Lübeck. Norby governed various land possessions in Scandinavia, ruling Gotland from 1517 to 1525. His rebellion against Frederick I of Denmark in 1525 was defeated, and he fled Denmark, ending his life in the employ of Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor. Norby had two children with unknown women; a son named Olov and a daughter, of whom little is known. Biography Norby was of poor Funen nobility, probably born between the late 1460s and the early 1480s.
