Ella Shelton
Ella Shelton (born January 19, 1998) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player and alternate captain for PWHL New York of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), and member of Canada women's national ice hockey team. She was drafted fourth overall in the 2023 PWHL Draft by New York. Playing career Shelton played junior hockey in the Provincial Women's Hockey League for the London Jr. Devilettes. She was a member of the first Devilettes team that had their own arena. In 2016, Shelton skated for Team Ontario's U18 provincial squad. College In her freshman season playing college ice hockey for Clarkson University, the 2016–17 season, Shelton recorded six goals and twenty-five points, including assists in both the semifinals and finals of the national tournament, which the Golden Knights won. Ingersoll, Ontario
Ingersoll is a town in Oxford County on the Thames River in southwestern Ontario, Canada. The nearest cities are Woodstock to the east and London to the west. Ingersoll is situated north of and along Highway 401. Oxford County Road 119 (formerly Ontario Highway 19) runs north diagonally through the town. Alex Carpenter
Alexandra "Alex" Carpenter (born April 13, 1994) is an American ice hockey player and member of the United States women's national team. She most recently played in the 2020–21 season of the Zhenskaya Hockey League (ZhHL) with the KRS Vanke Rays and served as team captain. The first player drafted into the National Women's Hockey League in 2015, she won a silver medal with the 2014 United States Olympic team, won the 2015 Patty Kazmaier Award, and was named ZhHL MVP in 2020. Playing career While in middle school, she played for a male hockey team in Bethlehem, New York. 2020–21 PWHPA Season
The 2020–21 PWHPA season is the second season of the ongoing strike by the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association. Formed after the collapse of the CWHL in 2019, the organisation consists of over 150 women's ice hockey players sitting out current leagues in North America. For the 2020–21 season, the PWHPA is organised into five different hubs, each of which fields a roster that will compete in exhibition games across North America and in the Dream Gap Tour tournament against each other. In ice hockey, the captain is the player designated by a team as the only person authorized to speak with the game officials regarding rule interpretations when the captain is on the ice. At most levels of play each team must designate one captain and a number of alternate captains (usually two or three) who speak to the officials when the captain is on the bench. Captains wear a "C" on their sweaters, while alternate captains wear an "A". Officially captains have no other responsibility or authority, although they may, depending on the league or individual team, have various informal duties, such as participation in pre-game ceremonies or other events outside the game. 2016–17 Clarkson Golden Knights Women's Ice Hockey Season
The Clarkson Golden Knights women's ice hockey program represented Clarkson University during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Golden Knights entered the season following their second Frozen Four appearance the previous season. After a slow start, the Golden Knights rebounded to win their third ECAC Regular Season title in four years. They followed this with their first ever ECAC tournament championship, defeating Cornell by a score of 1–0. In the NCAA Tournament, the Golden Knights advanced to their second title game, which they won 3–0 over top-ranked Wisconsin for the program's second national title. In addition to the postseason championships, the Golden Knights also won an in-season tournament for the first time, winning the Windjammer Classic at Vermont on Thanksgiving weekend.
