Elizabeth Street, Brisbane
Elizabeth Street is a major street in the centre of the city in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The street was one of the earliest in Brisbane being established at the beginning of settlement in Brisbane as Moreton Bay penal settlement. Today, most of the street is fronted by low-level retail outlets, with an increase in mixed use skyscrapers being recently constructed. Geography Major shopping arcades on Elizabeth Street include The Myer Centre, Marcarthur Central and the Elizabeth Arcade. The Brisbane Hilton hotel has it main entrance on Elizabeth Street. Elizabeth Street, Hobart
Elizabeth Street is the major street which runs southeast to northwest through the city and suburbs of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It was named by the Governor of New South Wales from 1810 to 1821, Lachlan Macquarie, after his wife Elizabeth Macquarie. It starts at Sullivans Cove and runs northwesterly through the CBD of Hobart and the North Hobart shopping district including the State Cinema, and changes to become New Town Road at the intersection with Augusta Road in New Town. The Elizabeth Street Pier extends into Sullivan's Cove (the Port of Hobart) from Franklin Wharf near the intersection with Elizabeth Street. Elizabeth Street is a street in Manhattan, New York City, which runs north-south parallel to and west of the Bowery. The street is a popular shopping strip in Manhattan's Nolita neighborhood. The southern part of Elizabeth Street was constructed in 1755. It was extended north to Bleecker Street in 1816. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Elizabeth Street was filled with tenement buildings, largely populated by Italian immigrants, making the street part of the onetime Little Italy of lower Manhattan. The Elizabeth Street School is a historic school building at 31 Elizabeth Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. Built in 1893, it was one of the first commissions for the city by local architect George Clemence, and is stylistically an eclectic mix of Romanesque and Renaissance Revival styles. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. It has been converted into residences. Description and history The former Elizabeth Street School is located in central eastern Worcester, in a residential area south of Massachusetts Route 9. It is bounded on the west by Elizabeth Street and the south by Reservoir Street.
