Elizabeth Lockman
Sarah Elizabeth "Tizzy" Lockman is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party. She serves in the Delaware Senate representing District 3, which covers parts of Wilmington, including the downtown and Riverfront areas. Early life and career Lockman was raised on the west side of Wilmington, Delaware and graduated from Alexis I. duPont High School. She received a B.A. from New York University and a M.A. from the University of Delaware. She works as an adjunct professor at the University of Delaware. Political career In 2014, Lockman was appointed a member of the Wilmington Education Advisory Committee (WEAC) by Governor Jack Markell, and she became vice chair when the body turned into the Wilmington Education Improvement Commission (WEIC). Lockman defeated Jordan Hines, both political novices, in the Democratic primary, in a contentious and closely watched race. Delaware's 3rd Senate district is one of 21 districts in the Delaware Senate. It has been represented by Democrat Elizabeth Lockman since 2018, succeeding fellow Democrat Robert Marshall. Margaret Rose Henry
Margaret Rose Henry (born June 20, 1944) is an American politician. She was a member of the Delaware Senate from 1994 to 2018. In September 2017, Henry announced she would not seek reelection to her District 2 seat. Senator Henry earned her BA from Texas Southern University and her MA from Springfield College. Henry was the first African-American woman elected to the Delaware Senate. During her time in office, she worked to reform the juvenile justice system and helped create a needle-exchange program. In March 2018, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce. Jack Markell
Jack Alan Markell (born November 26, 1960) is an American politician who currently serves as the United States ambassador to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. He previously served as the 73rd governor of Delaware from 2009 to 2017. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Markell served three terms as the state treasurer of Delaware from 1999 to 2009. After term-limited Governor Ruth Ann Minner was prevented from running for reelection, Markell announced his intention to run.
