Electoral District Of Elizabeth (South Australia)
Elizabeth is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It first existed from 1970 to 2006, when its boundaries were moved south and east and it was renamed to Little Para. The 2016 redistribution moved it further north and renamed it back to Elizabeth for the 2018 election. The district is in the northern suburbs of Adelaide, and named for the suburb of Elizabeth. First incarnation (1970–2006) The district of Elizabeth was first created in 1970 when the number of electorates increased from 39 to 47 and was abolished in 2006. Hillbank is a residential suburb of the City of Playford in the northern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia. It contains such features as Jo Gapper Regional Park, Hillbank Childcare Centre, Elizabeth Pistol Club and an On The Run petrol station. History The original subdivision was laid out under the name of Hill Bank. The name was changed to Hillbank in 1966. Further land including the former suburb of Elizabeth Heights was added to Hillbank in 1987. Elizabeth Vale
Elizabeth Vale is a suburb in the northern extent of Adelaide, South Australia. It was established in 1955. Its main roads are Main North Road to the east and John Rice Avenue which bisects the suburb. The southern boundary is the northern bank of the Little Para River. Elizabeth Vale has two hospitals, the Lyell McEwin Hospital, a public teaching hospital, and the private Central Districts Hospital. Demographics The 2006 Census by the Australian Bureau of Statistics counted 3,667 persons in the suburb of Elizabeth Vale on census night. Of these, 1,766 (48.2%) were male and 1,901 (51.8%) were female. The majority of residents 2,268 (61.7%) were Australian born, with 598 (16.3%) born in England.
