Elizabeth Vale
Elizabeth Vale is a suburb in the northern extent of Adelaide, South Australia. It was established in 1955. Its main roads are Main North Road to the east and John Rice Avenue which bisects the suburb. The southern boundary is the northern bank of the Little Para River. Elizabeth Vale has two hospitals, the Lyell McEwin Hospital, a public teaching hospital, and the private Central Districts Hospital. Demographics The 2006 Census by the Australian Bureau of Statistics counted 3,667 persons in the suburb of Elizabeth Vale on census night. Of these, 1,766 (48.2%) were male and 1,901 (51.8%) were female. The majority of residents 2,268 (61.7%) were Australian born, with 598 (16.3%) born in England. The age distribution of Elizabeth Vale residents is similar to that of the greater Australian population. 69.8% of residents were aged 25 or over in 2006, compared to the Australian average of 66.5%; and 30.3% were younger than 25 years, compared to the Australian average of 33.5%. Electoral District Of Elizabeth (South Australia)
Elizabeth is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It first existed from 1970 to 2006, when its boundaries were moved south and east and it was renamed to Little Para. The 2016 redistribution moved it further north and renamed it back to Elizabeth for the 2018 election. The district is in the northern suburbs of Adelaide, and named for the suburb of Elizabeth. First incarnation (1970–2006) The district of Elizabeth was first created in 1970 when the number of electorates increased from 39 to 47 and was abolished in 2006. Though Elizabeth was historically a safe Labor seat, it was held for a time by independent-turned-Labor MP Martyn Evans. Lyell McEwin Hospital
The Lyell McEwin Hospital (LMH) is a major tertiary hospital located in Adelaide, South Australia that provides medical, surgical, diagnostic, emergency and support services to a population of more than 300,000 people living primarily in Adelaide's north and north eastern suburbs. It is affiliated with the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia. It is named after Sir Lyell McEwin. Opening as a small country hospital in 1959, LMH is today a teaching institution for health care professionals. Little Para River
The Little Para River is a seasonal creek running across the Adelaide Plains in the Australian state of South Australia, whose catchment fills reservoirs that supply some of the water needs of Adelaide’s northern suburbs. Course and features It runs from its source near Lower Hermitage in the Mount Lofty Ranges, flows north westerly to the Little Para Reservoir and then westerly to the Barker Inlet via Swan Creek and into Gulf St Vincent at Globe Derby Park . Main North Road
Main North Road is the major north-south arterial route through the suburbs north of the Adelaide City Centre in the city of Adelaide, South Australia. It continues north through the settled areas of South Australia and is a total of long, from North Adelaide to out of Port Augusta. It follows the route established in the early years of the colony by explorer John Horrocks and was a major route for farmers and graziers to reach the capital, passing through rich farmland and the Clare Valley wine region. Greenwith, South Australia
Greenwith is an outer-north-eastern suburb of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia, and is within the City of Tea Tree Gully local government area. It is adjacent to Golden Grove and Salisbury Heights. Greenwith is the northernmost part of the Golden Grove urban land development. History Greenwith was named by Thomas Roberts in 1846, who had been engaged by the South Australian Mining Association to open up mineral sections along the River Torrens. He named his property Greenwith Farm after the mine at which he worked near Truro, Cornwall. The property was later owned by John Garfield Tilley.
