Elgin Falls
Elgin Falls is a waterfall in Sri Lanka, located in the Elgin tea estate which is from Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. The waterfall is in height. Elgin Falls is named after Elgin, a major town of Moray in Scotland. Senanayake 2004: 1 the falls is at about above sea level. There are several ways to access the waterfall. When traveling by railway between Nanu Oya and Ambewela the falls can be seen picturesquely. Ambewela
Ambewela ( ta, அம்பேவளை, translit=Ampēvaḷai; si, අඹේවෙල, translit=Am̆bēvela) is a village, and a hill station, located in the Nuwara Eliya District of Sri Lanka. The area is also sometimes called "Little New Zealand". The town is situated approximately south-east of the district capital Nuwara Eliya. Ambewela is also a service center to the New Galway tea planting district. Climate and vegetation Due to the high altitude of the mean annual temperature in the area is below , while frost is common during Winter. Ambewela is also popular for of being the highest (in altitude) and widest grassland in Sri Lanka. Mammals such as the Sambar Deer, Leopard dominate the majority of the forest cover around the area. Nuwara Eliya ( si, නුවර එළිය ; ta, நுவரெலியா) is a city in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. Its name means "city on the plain (table land)" or "city of light". The city is the administrative capital of Nuwara Eliya District, with a picturesque landscape and temperate climate. It is at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft) and is considered to be the most important location for tea production in Sri Lanka. Elgin, Moray
Elgin (; sco, Ailgin; gd, Eilginn, ) is a town (former cathedral city) and formerly a Royal Burgh in Moray, Scotland. It is the administrative and commercial centre for Moray. The town originated to the south of the River Lossie on the higher ground above the floodplain where the town of Birnie is. There, the church of Birnie Kirk was built in 1140 and serves the community to this day. Elgin is first documented in the Cartulary of Moray in 1190 AD. It was created a royal burgh in the 12th century by King David I of Scotland, and by that time had a castle on top of the present-day Lady Hill to the west of the town. The origin of the name Elgin is likely to be Celtic. It may derive from 'Aille' literally signifying beauty, but in topography a beautiful place or valley. Nanu Oya is a long stream in the Central Province of Sri Lanka It originates from Pidurutalagala at an elevation of over and drains into the Kotmale Oya at an elevation of approximately .
