Elenga ( bn, এলেঙ্গা) is a town in Kalihati Upazila of Tangail District, Bangladesh. The town is situated away from Tangail city and northwest of Dhaka city, the capital. Geography According to geographical area Elenga Municipality is situated north-east from Tangail District headquarters. There is a river called Lowhajong is following near west side of Elenga Municipality. Demographics The total population of Elenga Municipality is 55000. Among them 26,950 are male and 28050 are female. Kalihati Upazila
Kalihati ( bn, কালিহাতী) is an upazila of Tangail District, Dhaka Division, Bangladesh. History It has a historical background during the liberation war in 1971. A great child of this land named Kader Siddiqui who later gained the great title "Bir Uttom" for his contribution to the war. After the liberation war he gave 32 trucks of weapons to the government. In the liberation period he formed a group named "Kaderia Bahini" with the brave bangalees. The "Kaderia Bahini" was very ferocious against the Pakistanis. Tangail ( bn, টাঙ্গাইল জেলা) formerly a small Mohokuma of Greater Mymensingh district is a district (''zila'') in the central region of Bangladesh. In 1969, Tangail district was created by Tangail Mohokuma from its 237 square kilometers of its land and 3177 square kilometers of land from Mymensingh district. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh is a non political and non profit research organisation registered under both Society Act of 1864 and NGO Bureau, Government of Bangladesh. The Asiatic Society of Bangladesh was established as the Asiatic Society of East Pakistan in Dhaka in 1952 by a number of Muslim leaders, and renamed in 1972. Debapriya Bhattacharya is an economist and public policy analyst from Bangladesh. He was the first executive director of Centre for Policy Dialogue in Dhaka.
