Elena Alexandrina Bednarik
Elena Alexandrina Barabaș-Bednarik (19 April 1883 – 24 February 1939) was a Romanian painter and art teacher. Biography Elena graduated from the National School of Art in Bucharest in 1908, where she was taught by Dimitrie Serafim. From 1909 to 1912, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. She later became a painting teacher at the high schools "Principesa Elena" in Brașov, "Domnița Ileana" and "Notre-Dame" in Bucharest. She had one child, Beatrice. When her first child, Beatrice Bednarik, was born, Elena Alexandrina Bednarik was 39 years old. She married Romanian painter Ignat Bednarik Ignat Bednarik (March 8, 1882 – March 11, 1963) was a Romanian painter who worked in almost every genre of painting before devoting himself purely to watercolor. Dimitrie Serafim (1862 – 1931) was a Romanian painter in the Academic and Impressionist styles. Biography Serafim was born in Bucharest. His father, Anton Serafim (1838-1911) was a church painter of aromanian ancestry who originally came from Varna. His two brothers also became church painters. Ignat Bednarik (March 8, 1882 – March 11, 1963) was a Romanian painter who worked in almost every genre of painting before devoting himself purely to watercolor. He was also interested in decorative art, design, interior decoration and book illustration. In his lifetime, he produced more than 3,000 works of art. Biography Early life Bednarik was born in Orschowa (Orşova), at the time part of Austria-Hungary, to Czech parents; he was son of the second marriage of Adalbert Bednarik (originally from Moravia) and Genoveva Hauschka, followed by two sisters, Genoveva, and Maria. While a pupil at the Traian High School in Drobeta Turnu Severin, he won first prize for his works in drawing at the ''Tinerimea Română'' society.
