Electoral District Of Scoresby
The Electoral district of Scoresby was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was first created after the district of Upper Yarra was abolished in 1945. George Knox was the last member for Upper Yarra and the first for Scoresby. The electorate was abolished after a redistribution in 1976, being replaced by the district of Wantirna. Geoff Hayes then became the first member for Wantirna. After the 2002 redistribution, the electorate was replaced, once again returning as the electoral district of Scoresby. The first member for Scoresby, Kim Wells, was also the last member for Wantirna. The seat was again abolished in 2014 and replaced by Rowville. Victorian Legislative Assembly
The Victorian Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the bicameral Parliament of Victoria in Australia; the upper house being the Victorian Legislative Council. Both houses sit at Parliament House in Spring Street, Melbourne. The presiding officer of the Legislative Assembly is the Speaker. There are presently 88 members of the Legislative Assembly elected from single-member divisions. George Hodges Knox
Sir George Hodges Knox, (17 December 1885 – 11 July 1960) was an Australian politician, orchardist and military officer. The City of Knox is named after him. Knox was born in the Melbourne suburb of Prahran on 17 December 1885 and educated at Scotch College, Melbourne. He was the son of William Knox, who had been a member of the Victorian Legislative Council between 1897 and 1901, and the member for Kooyong in the House of Representatives. Knox began his working life as an electrical engineer. He married Kathleen Purves MacPherson in 1909. Soon after, he moved to Beaconsfield, Victoria, to establish an orchard. He joined the Citizen Military Forces in 1909 and served during the First World War, commanding the 23rd Battalion. He divorced in 1919. In 1920 he moved to Ferntree Gully, Victoria. Electoral District Of Wantirna
The Electoral district of Wantirna was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It was first created after the Electoral district of Scoresby was abolished in 1976. Geoff Hayes was the last member for Scoresby in its first incarnation, and the first for Wantirna. After the 2002 redistribution, the electorate was replaced, once again returning as the Electoral district of Scoresby. The last member of Wantirna, Kim Wells was also the first member for Scoresby, in its second incarnation. Geoff Hayes
Geoffrey Philip Hayes (19 January 1933 – 9 September 1994) was an Australian politician. He was born in Melbourne to advertising agent George Hayes and Elsie Irene, and attended school at Murrumbeena and Dandenong. He studied at Melbourne University part-time and became an advertising agent. On 1 September 1956 he married Margaret Lane, with whom he had three sons. Kim Wells
Kimberley Arthur Wells (born 6 August 1958) is an Australian politician. He has been a Liberal member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly since 1992, representing first Wantirna and then Scoresby and Rowville. Wells was the Treasurer of Victoria from December 2010 until March 2013. Wells was born in Leongatha, Victoria, and attended public schools in Bairnsdale, graduating in 1976. Career Wells received a Bachelor of Business, specialising in accounting, post-graduate Diploma of Business and a Master of Accounting from the Victoria University. He worked as an accountant from 1977, and joined the Liberal Party in 1984, holding various positions in the Wattle Park Branch. Wells was selected as the Liberal candidate for Wantirna before the 1992 Victorian state election, and was elected. The electoral district of Rowville is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in Australia. It was created in the redistribution of electoral boundaries in 2013, and came into effect at the 2014 state election. It largely covers the area of the abolished district of Scoresby, covering eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It includes the suburbs of Rowville, Lysterfield, Ferntree Gully, Scoresby and Knoxfield. The 2010 Victorian state election, held on Saturday, 27 November 2010, was for the 57th Parliament of Victoria. The election was to elect all 88 members of the Legislative Assembly and all 40 members of the Legislative Council.
