Electoral District Of Beaudesert
Beaudesert was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1991 to 2017. Beaudesert encompassed rural and semi-urban regions located to the south of the Brisbane metropolitan area. Major communities located within this electoral included Beaudesert, Boonah, Aratula, Jimboomba, Tamborine, Canungra and Rathdowney. The seat was created at the 1991 redistribution largely from the territory of the abolished seat of Fassifern. It was a safe seat for the National Party, and its successor the Liberal National Party, throughout its entire existence, although former member Aidan McLindon left the LNP in 2010 to form The Queensland Party. He subsequently joined and became state leader of Katter's Australian Party in 2011, but lost his seat in 2012. Beaudesert is a rural town and locality in the Scenic Rim Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Beaudesert had a population of 6,395 people. Beaudesert is the administrative centre for the Scenic Rim Region. Geography Beaudesert is south of Brisbane and west of the Gold Coast. Beaudesert is located on the Mount Lindesay Highway, some south of Brisbane. The area sources its income predominantly from rural activities such as cropping, grazing and equine activities, as well as tourism. It has a racecourse, 50-metre swimming pool, public library, two gyms, two secondary schools, two primary schools, showgrounds, caravan park and several hotels and eateries. The surrounding countryside includes numerous valleys leading up to the ranges dividing Queensland and New South Wales with creeks running through them and accompanying mountain scenery. The Queensland Party
The Queensland Party was a political party based in Queensland, Australia. It was registered with the Electoral Commission of Queensland between August 2010 and March 2012. The Queensland Party was formed by Aidan McLindon, the Member for Beaudesert, after he resigned from the Liberal National Party in May, 2010. The Queensland Party had one Member of Parliament in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland and its signature policy was the re-instatement of the Upper House in Queensland. On 24 May 2011, Aidan McLindon tabled the first bill to restore Queensland's Upper House since it was abolished in 1922. The Queensland Party was not affiliated with the North Queensland Party. Antony John Green (born 2 March 1960) is an Australian psephologist and commentator. He is the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's chief election analyst. Early years and background Born in Warrington, Lancashire, in northern England, Green emigrated to Australia with his family in 1964. Kevin Rowson "Kev" Lingard (born 14 August 1942) is an Australian politician. He was a National Party ( Liberal National from 2008 onwards) member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1983 to 2009 and a former Deputy Leader of the Nationals in Queensland. Political career Lingard first entered state parliament as the member for Fassifern at the 1983 state election. He held the seat until its abolition at the 1992 state election, upon which he won the replacement seat of Beaudesert. Electoral District Of Scenic Rim
Scenic Rim is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. It was created in the 2017 redistribution, and was won at the 2017 election by Jon Krause. Located in South-East Queensland, Scenic Rim covers the Scenic Rim Region and some areas in the south of Ipswich and Logan extending to the New South Wales border, including the towns of Beaudesert and Boonah. It largely replaces the abolished district of Beaudesert. From results of the 2015 election, Scenic Rim was estimated to be a fairly safe seat for the Liberal National Party with a margin of 9.2%.
