Drummoyne is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is represented by John Sidoti. Originally elected as a member of the Liberal Party; Sidoti stood down from the party in 2021 whilst under investigation by the Independent Commission Against Corruption Drummoyne includes the suburbs and localities of Abbotsford, Breakfast Point, Cabarita, Canada Bay, Chiswick, Cockatoo Island, Concord, Concord West, Drummoyne, Five Dock, Liberty Grove, Mortlake, Rhodes, Rodd Island, Spectacle Island, Rodd Point, Russell Lea, Wareemba and parts of North Strathfield. History Drummoyne was created in 1913. With the introduction of proportional representation, it was absorbed into the multi-member electorate of Ryde, but recreated in 1927. Reg Coady
Reginald John Francis Coady (28 May 1918 – 13 May 1977) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1954 until 1973. He was a member of the Labor Party (ALP). Coady was born in Forest Lodge and was the son of a carter. He was educated at Patrician Brothers High School, Forest Lodge and qualified as a book-keeper, eventually becoming the chief clerk for Tooheys Brewery. He was an official on the Federated Clerks' Union and became involved in community organisations in the Glebe area including the Saint Vincent de Paul Society and the Australian Red Cross. Coady was elected to the parliament as the Labor member for Leichhardt at the 1954 by-election caused by the suicide of the incumbent Labor member and ex-minister Claude Matthews. Walter Lawrence (Australian Politician)
Walter Richard Lawrence (3 January 1895 – 24 March 1966) was an Australian politician. He was the Liberal member for Drummoyne in the New South Wales Legislative Council from 1956 to 1962. Lawrence was born at Lawsons Creek, near Mudgee in New South Wales, to farmer Charles Lawrence and Esther Barton. He grew up on his parents' farm, and in 1914 enlisted in the AIF, serving until 1918. In August 1918 he married Alethia James, with whom he had four children. Also in that year he was employed at Ellerslie station, between Adelong and Tarcutta, of which he was manager from 1919 to 1922. He later joined the police force, rising to become Superintendent of the traffic branch and Deputy Commissioner. He retired from the force in 1954. He was briefly a member of Drummoyne Council in 1966. Lawrence was also a Methodist lay preacher, and was president of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Roy Jackson (politician)
Roy Stanley Jackson (1895–1964) was an Australian politician and a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for a single term between 1953 and 1956. He was a member of the Labor Party (ALP). Jackson was born in Balmain, New South Wales and was the son of a trade union organizer. He was educated to elementary level in state schools and initially worked as a shipwright. During World War One he served with the First Australian Imperial Force in the Middle East and France. He joined the Federated Shipwrights and Ship Constructors' Association of Australia and became a full-time official with the union after 1934. He was also a member of the executive committee of the Australian Council of Trade Unions. Jackson was elected to parliament as the Labor member for Drummoyne at the 1953 election. Robert Charles Dewley (25 November 1913 – 23 May 1996) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1947 until 1953. He was a member of the Liberal Party of Australia (New South Wales Division), Liberal Party. Dewley was born in Rose Bay, New South Wales with the birth surname of Lambourne. He was the son of an insurance inspector and was educated at Randwick Boys High School . Dewley initially worked as a butcher in Rozelle, New South Wales but in 1947 he started a car dealership in Stanmore, New South Wales.
