Electoral District Of Kedron
Kedron was the name of two incarnations of an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland. Both districts were based in the northern suburbs of Brisbane and named for the suburb of Kedron. The first existed from 1950 to 1972 and the second from 1992 to 2001. Kedron, Queensland
Kedron is a northern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Kedron had a population of 9,359 people. Geography Kedron is centred on Gympie Road and Kedron Brook. It is close to Westfield Chermside shopping centre in the neighbouring suburb of Chermside. Kedron is an inner-northern suburb that neighbours Stafford, Chermside, Wavell Heights, Wooloowin, Lutwyche, and Nundah. Despite the similarity in names, the Brisbane suburbs of Kedron and Upper Kedron are 15.3 kilometres apart. History German missionaries originally settled in the Nundah area (known as German Station) in 1838. These missionaries were granted alongside the creek they named Kedron Brook, after Kidron Valley near Jerusalem. The suburb takes its name from the creek. The first land sales commenced in 1857. Legislative Assembly Of Queensland
The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Elections are held every four years and are done by full preferential voting. The Assembly has 93 members, who have used the letters MP after their names since 2000 (previously they were styled MLAs). There is approximately the same population in each electorate; however, that has not always been the case (in particular, a malapportionment system - not, strictly speaking, a gerrymander - dubbed the ''Bjelkemander'' was in effect during the 1970s and 1980s). Arthur Bruce Pie (18 May 1902 – 30 July 1962) was an Australian politician who served in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. Early life The son of Arthur Savoi Garibaldi Pie, and Annie Gertrude Pie, née Miller, Arthur Bruce Pie was born in Coburg, Victoria on 18 May 1902. He married Jean Margaret Wright at Clayfield, Brisbane, Queensland on 24 June 1925. Education He attended Caulfield Grammar School 1916–1917, and played for the school's First XVIII. The Liberal Party of Australia (Queensland Division), branded as Liberal Queensland, was the Queensland division of the Liberal Party of Australia until 2008. It was initially formed in October 1943 as the Queensland People's Party (QPP), which then absorbed the disbanded Queensland branch of the United Australia Party in 1944. In 1945, the QPP had an agreement with the newly formed Liberal Party, where in the "federal sphere", QPP would be the Queensland division of the Liberal Party and would run its candidates under the Liberal Party banner in federal elections. Eric Gayford Lloyd (1 January 1918 – 3 June 2003) was a Real estate agent and member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. The Australian Labor Party (Queensland Branch), commonly known as Queensland Labor or as just Labor inside Queensland, is the state branch of the Australian Labor Party in the state of Queensland. Pat Comben
Patrick "Pat" Comben AM (born 3 May 1950) is a former Australian politician. He was born in Weymouth in Dorset and was raised on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, attending the Portland Secondary Modern School. Leaving school at 16 he migrated by himself to Australia where worked initially as a farm hand, labourer and stockman. Attending night school as a mature aged student, he matriculated and attended the University of Queensland studying law and government, eventually graduating with a Bachelor of Arts. Paul Joseph Braddy (born 20 January 1939) is an Australian state politician. Early life He was a solicitor before entering politics and served as an alderman in the Rockhampton City Council for three years from 1979. Political career He entered the Queensland Parliament at a by-election for Rockhampton in 1985. Braddy represented Rockhampton until 1995, when he changed to the seat of Kedron, where he remained the sitting member until his retirement.
