Electoral District Of Berwick
The electoral district of Berwick is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. The original electoral district of Berwick was abolished in 2002. In the 2021 redistribution, it was revived as a new electoral district to be contested at the 2022 Victorian state election. It covers areas from the abolished district of Gembrook, and covers outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It includes the suburbs of Beaconsfield, Berwick, Clyde North and small towns around Cardinia Creek south of Emerald. Berwick, Victoria
Berwick () is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south-east of Melbourne's central business district, located within the City of Casey local government area. Berwick recorded a population of 50,298 at the 2021 census. It was named by an early leaseholder Robert Gardiner after his birthplace Berwick-on-Tweed in Northumberland. History The town of Berwick was originally part of the Cardinia Creek run. Subdivision started in 1854 and a store, post office, hotel and other businesses were established. Wheat, barley and potatoes were grown, with a flour mill operating for several years. Dairy farming and cheese making later became the main activities. The Berwick Agricultural Society, originally started in 1848 as the Mornington Farmers' Society, is one of the oldest farmers' societies in Victoria. Brad Battin
Bradley William Battin (born 12 December 1975) is an Australian politician who currently serves as the Liberal Party member for Berwick in the Victorian Legislative Assembly since 2022. He was previously the member for Gembrook from 2010 until the seat was abolished in 2022 following the 2021 Redistribution. He was formerly a police officer and owned a bakery in Wheelers Hill. Career Battin obtained a Diploma in Public Safety (Policing) with the Victoria Police, and a Graduate Diploma in Adolescent Health and Welfare from the University of Melbourne. In 2020 Battin completed a Graduate Certificate in Business. He has spoken on the issue of youth suicide on various occasions and targets raising further awareness about this. The Shire of Cardinia is a local government area in Victoria, Australia, in the south-east of Melbourne between Western Port and the Yarra Ranges on the outskirts of Melbourne. Robert Logan Dean (born 31 October 1952) Australian politician is a former member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. Early life and education Dean obtained a Doctor of Laws from the University of Melbourne. After graduating and before entering politics, Dean worked as a lawyer. Robert Roy Cameron "Rob" Maclellan AM (born 8 March 1934) is a former Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, representing the seats of Gippsland West (1970–76), Berwick (1976–92) and Pakenham (1992–2002). He was Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party from 1982 to 1985. Background Maclellan was born in Melbourne to businessman Roy James Maclellan and Amy Catherine McMicking.
