Elbert Road
State Highway 157 is a former state highway near Falcon, Elbert and Kiowa in the U.S. state of Colorado. The highway was designated in 1923 and existed until the mid-1950s. Starting in Falcon, it followed Meridian Road north to Elbert. From there it followed Elbert Road (also called Elbert Highway) north to Kiowa before running northward on Kiowa–Bennett Road to a point north of Kiowa. Elbert is an unincorporated town, a post office, and a census-designated place (CDP) located in and governed by Elbert County, Colorado, United States. The CDP is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Elbert post office has the ZIP Code 80106. Kiowa, Colorado
Kiowa is a home rule municipality town and the county seat of Elbert County, Colorado, United States. The town population was 723 at the 2010 United States Census, up from 581 at the 2000 census. History The town was named for the Kiowa people. Settled in 1859, it was originally named "Wendling" after an early settler. It was called "Middle Kiowa" from the 1860s until 1912, when it was incorporated and the word "Middle" was dropped. It became the county seat of Elbert County in 1874. Kiowa suffered from major flooding in 1935.
