El Paso, Santa Cruz De Tenerife
El Paso, also known as Ciudad de El Paso, is a Spanish municipality located on the island of La Palma, province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands. Geographically it is located in the center of the island of La Palma, covering to the west with the Caldera de Taburiente, part of the Aridane Valley, the Cumbre Nueva and the Cumbre Vieja. It is on the surface the largest municipality of the island, being the only one of the 14 municipalities of La Palma that lacks coastal strip. In 2016 it had a population of 7457 inhabitants. The nucleus of population had to have its origins in the pre-Hispanic stage of the island. Almost certainly, because of the engravings found in the area, it consisted of a first moment in a temporary settlement of Benahoarite shepherds. During the colonization and almost throughout the Modern Age the present territory of the municipality was administratively part of the Aridane Valley. 2021 Cumbre Vieja Volcanic Eruption
An eruption at the Cumbre Vieja complex volcano, volcanic ridge, comprising the southern half of the Spain, Spanish island of La Palma in the Canary Islands, lasted from 19 September to 13 December 2021. It was the first volcanic eruption on the island since the Teneguía#1971 eruption, eruption of Teneguía in 1971. At 85 days, it is the longest known eruption of a volcano on La Palma. The eruption has caused the evacuation of around 7,000 people, and the lava flow has covered over 1000 Hectare, hectares. The lava flow is about 3.5 kilometre (2.3 mile) wide in its widest point, about 6.2 kilometre long (3.9 mile) and has reached the sea, destroying more than 3,000 buildings, cutting the coastal highway and forming a new peninsula.
