''El Faro'' is a Salvadoran online digital newspaper, founded in 1998. The newspaper claims to be the first exclusively digital newspaper in Latin America ("El primer periódico digital latinoamericano"). History Jorge Simán, of Palestinian origin and Carlos Dada, of Greek-Lebanese origin, are the founders of the newspaper. They are sons of political exiles, and they returned to El Salvador, with the purpose of starting a newspaper that would completely change Salvadoran media. Their return happened six years after the end of the Salvadoran civil war, marked by the Chapultepec Peace Accords of 1992. These agreements would guarantee greater political freedoms, and better possibilities to conduct independent journalism. Since its foundation, El Faro has been an effort to renovate the Salvadoran media, which has traditionally been dominated by conservative outlets as Telecorporación Salvadoreña, El Diario de Hoy and La Prensa Gráfica. ''El faro'' (The Lighthouse) is a 1998 Argentine-Spanish drama film directed by Eduardo Mignogna. The film is also known in Spain as ''El faro del Sur.'' The screenplay was a collaborative effort of Graciela Aguirre, José Antonio Félez, Eduardo Mignogna, and Santiago Carlos Oves. It features Ingrid Rubio, Jimena Barón, among others. The film won numerous awards including the Goya Awards for Best Foreign Film. El Faro Restaurant
El Faro Restaurant was a small Spanish food emporium located at 823 Greenwich Street in the West Village of Manhattan, New York City. El Faro opened in 1927 and shuttered in 2012 after failing to raise over $80,000 to pay off fines and expenses. Its first set of owners, Manuel Rivas and Edwardo Cabana, ran the establishment as a Spanish bar and grill. This area of New York was heavily populated with Irish immigrants who worked in the nearby meatpacking houses, which still stand today. The restaurant was located near 14th Street, an area close to Eighth Avenue that became known as "Little Spain". José Perez and his son Joe Pérez, the newest owners of the restaurant, were interviewed by director Artur Balder in the 2010 documentary ''Little Spain'', in order to shine a light on the memories of Little Spain and its most important landmarks, The band Amaranthe recorded part of the music video That Song in the restaurant. Punta Maldonado
Punta Maldonado (also known as El Faro on account of the nearby lighthouse) is a small coastal community in the Mexican state of Guerrero. Previously located in the municipality of Cuajinicuilapa, it became part of the new municipality of San Nicolás upon its creation in 2021. It is notable for its Afro-Mexican population. The local economy is centred on fishing, particularly for lobster. The beach is also an attractive tourist destination.
