El Cerrito (Spanish for "The Little Hill") is a neighborhood of the Mid-City region of San Diego, California. El Cerrito is a residential neighborhood, consisting mostly of suburban homes, with some commercial activity along the streets that define its borders. History The name "El Cerrito" refers to the little hill that rises from 55th Street to 58th Street, this "little hill" was the largest of the rises on the old Cajon Road and first is documented by that name in the late 1800s. In the early years of San Diego the neighborhood consisted primarily of orange and lemon orchards. The area became developed in the 1920s with the creation of El Cajon Boulevard which runs through the middle of the neighborhood. El Cajon Boulevard
El Cajon Boulevard is a major east–west thoroughfare through San Diego, La Mesa and El Cajon, California. Before the creation of Interstate 8 it was the principal automobile route from San Diego to El Cajon, the Imperial Valley, and points east as U.S. Route 80; it is now signed as a business loop of Interstate 8. Route description The boulevard now consists of two disconnected portions, one in San Diego and La Mesa, and the other in El Cajon. San Diego City Council
The San Diego City Council is the legislative branch of government for the city of San Diego, California. The city council was first established in San Diego in 1850. The council uses a strong mayor system with a separately elected mayor who acts as the executive. There are currently nine members of the council. Sean Elo-Rivera
Sean Elo-Rivera is the president of the San Diego City Council. A member of the California Democratic Party, he represents City Council District 9, which includes the neighborhoods of City Heights, Kensington, Normal Heights, and East San Diego, and also includes San Diego State University. Will C. Crawford High School, also known as Crawford High School and formerly Crawford Educational Complex, is a high school located in the El Cerrito neighborhood of San Diego, California United States. In the fall of 2012, the school was reorganized as a traditional school with one principal and two vice principals, and returned to its original name, Will C. Crawford High School.
