The Bañuelo or ''El Bañuelo'' (a diminutive of Spanish ''baño'' "bath"), also known as the ''Baño del Nogal'' ("Bath of the Walnut") or ''Hammam al-Yawza'', is a preserved historic ''hammam'' (Islamic bathhouse) in Granada, Spain. It is located in the Albaicin quarter of the city, on the banks of the Darro River. It was used as a bathhouse up until the 16th century at least, before becoming defunct and being converted to other uses. In the 20th century it underwent numerous restorations by Spanish experts and is now open as a tourist attraction. History Bathhouses (''hammam''s) of this type were a common feature of Muslim cities across the Muslim world, serving both a social and religious purpose. Badis Ibn Habus
Badis ibn Habus ( ar, باديس بن حبوس) was the third Berber king of the Taifa of Granada and the founder of the Alhambra palace. He ruled between 1038 and 1073. Biography A member of the Berber Zirid dynasty, Badis ibn Habus succeeded to the throne of the Taifa of Granada upon the death of his father, Habbus al-Muzaffar, in spite of a conspiracy on the part of the Granada court that supported his cousin Yaddair ben Hubasa as a successor to Habbus. The plot failed, however, thanks to Habbus's vizier, the Jew, Samuel ibn Naghrillah, who made certain that Badis succeeded Habbus, thus reinforcing his own position in the kingdom. Perspiration, also known as sweating, is the production of fluids secreted by the sweat glands in the skin of mammals. A caldarium (also called a calidarium, cella caldaria or cella coctilium) was a room with a hot plunge bath, used in a Roman bath complex. This was a very hot and steamy room heated by a hypocaust, an underfloor heating system using tunnels with hot air, heated by a furnace tended by slaves. This was the hottest room in the regular sequence of bathing rooms; after the caldarium, bathers would progress back through the warm bathroom to the cold water room. Tepidarium
The tepidarium was the warm (''tepidus'') bathroom of the Roman baths heated by a hypocaust or underfloor heating system. The speciality of a tepidarium is the pleasant feeling of constant radiant heat which directly affects the human body from the walls and floor. A frigidarium is one of the three main bath chambers of a Roman bath or ''thermae'', namely the cold room. It often contains a swimming pool.
