Ektaar Music Ltd
Ektaar Music ( bn, একতার মিউজিক; a reference to the Ektara instrument) is a Bangladeshi record label based in Dhaka. It was founded by Feisal Siddiqi Bogey, Sheikh Monirul Alam Tipu, and others in 2002. Ektaar was also known for its opposition to piracy. It was one of the largest record labels in Bangladesh, specializing in folk revival. Feisal Siddiqi Bogey is the CEO of the label. History Ektaar was founded in 2002 as a goal to revive and popularize Bengali folk music in Bangladesh. It started off with selling CDs of albums by artists such as the band Bangla and singer Pothik Nobi, which were successful. Its success grew overtime, and became one of the most prominent Bangladeshi music labels. Its songs also became popular among the Bangladeshi diaspora. Ektara
Ektara ( bn, একতারা, hi, एकतारा, ur, اِک تارا, ne, एकतारे, pa, ਇਕ ਤਾਰਾ, ta, எக்டரா; literally 'one-string', also called actara, iktar, ektar, yaktaro, gopichand, gopichant, golki ne, गोल्, gopijiantra, tun tuna) is a one-stringed musical instrument used in the traditional music of South Asia, and used in modern-day music of Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. Bangla (band)
Bangla is a folk-rock band from Bangladesh. Formed by the popular indie musician Shayan Chowdhury Arnob, Bangla mainly blends the traditional Bangladeshi folk genres like Baul, Lalon together with western flavours like jazz, blues, rock etc. The band released its first album ''Kingkortobbobimurho'' in 2002. Over the years, the band has emerged as a prominent music group in the country and became one of the most sought after bands, especially among the urban youth listeners. Habib Wahid
Habib Wahid (born 15 October 1979) is a Bangladeshi composer and singer. He works on modern pop music, EDM and a fusion of traditional Bengali folk music with contemporary techno and urban beats. His music is mainly influenced by British Bangladeshis, while he was living in the UK as a student. He is the son of the 1970s singer Ferdous Wahid. Shayan Chowdhury Arnob, known professionally as Arnob, is a Bangladeshi singer-songwriter, musician, painter, filmmaker, animator and producer. Arnob was the founder of indie folk band ''Bangla'' which stayed active for a decade before going into hiatus in the late 2000s. Souls is a Bangladeshi rock band formed in Chittagong in 1972. History In 1972, singer Tajul Imam, guitarists Sajedul Alam and Momtazul Hoque Lulu, bassist Subrata Barua Ronny, and drummer/keyboardist Ahmed Newaz formed Souls.
