Akpan Hogan Ekpo (born 26 June 1954) is a Nigerian economist and professor. He is currently a Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Ekpo is also the Chairman of the Foundation for Economic Research and Training (FERT) in Lagos, Nigeria. He was the Director General of the West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM) in Lagos, Nigeria from May 2009 to December 2018. He is a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Ekpo is also a former Director at the Central Bank of Nigeria. Emmanuel Ekpo (born 20 December 1987 in Ekori) is a Nigerian professional footballer. Career Professional Ekpo spent his early years in the youth system of Calabar Rovers, before going on to play professionally for Akwa United and Enyimba in the Nigerian Premier League. Ekpo signed a contract with Columbus Crew on 15 April 2008, and scored an impressive first goal for the Crew on 28 June 2008, in a game against Colorado Rapids. Felix Ekpo (born 10 May 1981) is a Nigerian weightlifter competing in the 77 kg category. His personal best is 335 kg. He won overall gold at the 2007 All-Africa Games, with a total of 333 kg. At the 2007 World Weightlifting Championships he ranked 23rd with a total of 327 kg. He won gold in the snatch, silver in the clean and jerk, and overall silver at the 2008 African Championships, with a total of 335 kg. Florence Ekpo-Umoh (born 27 December 1977 in Lagos) is a Nigerian-German sprinter, who specializes in the 400 m. She was suspended from competing for two years for doping. Career Ekpo-Umoh last competed for her birth country Nigeria at the 1994 World Junior Championships. She defected to Germany in 1995 during a training camp there, married her German trainer in 1998 and received German citizenship in 2000. Since 1998, she represented the sports club USC Mainz. In 2003, Ekpo-Umoh was found guilty of stanozolol doping. The sample was delivered on 24 January 2003 in an out-of-competition test in South Africa. She was suspended from the sport until March 2005.
