Ejura Shooting, Ghana
On June 28, 2021, two people were shot and killed by the security personnel in Ejura, Ghana and four others were injured during a demonstration which turned violent. Incident This incident was triggered by the alleged murder of Ibrahim Mohammed also known as Macho Kaaka, who was a youth activist. It was claimed he was killed by armed men after his frequent criticisms of the government on his social media handle. He was assaulted when he was returning home on motorbike on 26 June 2021. He died at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital three days after the attack. The youth in Ejura protested after the death and burial of Kaaka. The protestors blocked the Ejura-Atebubu road thereby causing traffic. The police backed by the military clashed with the protestors which led to the shootings. Nkoranza Shooting
On May 17, 2022, one person was shot and killed by the security personnel in Nkoranza, in the Bono East Region of Ghana and nine others were injured when the youth in the area went on rampage and attacked the Municipal Police headquarters. Incident The incident was triggered by the alleged killing of Albert Donkor, a 28 year old trader by the police whilst in custody. On 25 April 2022, Albert Donkor was arrested in Kasadjan at his mother's house. It was claimed by the Nkoranza Municipal Police Command that he was an armed robber who died during exchange of firearms with them. His family later refuted the claims and said the police picked him up from home into their custody where he passed away. 2019 Ayawaso West By-election
The Ayawaso West (Ghana parliament constituency), Ayawaso West by-election took place on 31 January 2019 after the death of the incumbent MP Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko on 21 November 2018. Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party was elected with 69% of the vote. Violence Violence erupted in the area of the La-Bawaleshie Polling place, polling station two hours after the election had started, though there was no death recorded there were casualties. Ningo-Prampram MP Sam Nartey George, Sam George was assaulted and 18 people were wounded by gunshot. According to Yen.com.gh, YEN.com, the perpetrators were masked men and alleged to be National Security Operatives.
