Eileen Kramer
Eileen Kramer (born 8 November 1914) is an Australian dancer, artist, performer and choreographer. She began by studying singing and music in Sydney in the 1930s, but after attending a performance of the Bodenwieser Ballet in 1940, immediately decided on a career change to dance. After joining the troupe that had made such an impression on her, she toured around Australia and overseas for the next decade. She then lived and worked in France and the US for the next 60 years, before returning to Australia where she remains active in the arts . Early life Eileen Kramer was born and grew up in Mosman Bay with one other sibling, a brother. Her father, a car salesman, began showing signs of alcoholism when Kramer was about 10, leading to her mother leaving and secretly relocating with the children to Coogee when she was 13. Mosman Bay
Mosman Bay is a bay of Sydney Harbour adjacent to the suburb of Mosman, 4 km north-east of the Sydney CBD in New South Wales, Australia. Three ferry wharves, Mosman Bay, South Mosman and Old Cremorne, are within the bay, all being served by the F6 Mosman Bay ferry service. History Originally known as Great Sirius Cove, this name lives on in the next bay to the east, Sirius Cove (originally Little Sirius Cove). "The Twist" is an American pop song written and originally released in 1958 by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters as a B-side to "Teardrops on Your Letter". It was inspired by the twist dance craze. Ballard's version was a moderate hit, peaking at number 28 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in 1960. On the US ''Billboard'' Hot R&B Sides chart, the original version of "The Twist" first peaked at number sixteen in 1959 and at number six in 1960. The David Orlowsky Trio (previously: Klezmorim or ''David Orlowsky's Klezmorim'') was a German music ensemble founded in 1997 and disbanded in 2019. History The founding members of the Trio (music), Trio included the clarinettist , the double bassist and the guitarist . Jo Ambros was succeeded by Frank Wekenmann (* 1968) from 2003 to 2005; from 2005 Jens-Uwe Popp (* 1967) took over the guitarist position in the trio. In the beginning, the ensemble played traditional klezmer music. Today, the repertoire consists mainly of original compositions with influences from klezmer, jazz, Arabic music and chamber music. Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre (CPAC), commonly referred to as Casula Powerhouse, is a multi-disciplinary arts centre in Casula, a south-western outer suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Before being renovated and converted into an arts centre, the building was known as Liverpool Powerhouse. Since 2016 CPAC has hosted the Blake Prizes, comprising two art prizes and a residency, as well as the Blake Poetry Prize. History Liverpool Powerhouse was constructed in 1951, one of a number of identical power stations built to cater for growing demand in Sydney winters.
