Eight Mile Plains Busway Station
Eight Mile Plains busway station is the southernmost station on the South East Busway in Brisbane, Australia serving the suburb of Eight Mile Plains. It opened on 30 April 2001 when the busway was extended from Woolloongabba. It is currently the last station on the South East Busway, and is connected to the Springwood bus station by the Pacific Motorway. It is enclosed by a number of major roads including Logan Road, Miles Platting Road, the Pacific Motorway and the Gateway Motorway. It features a free park & ride facility. As part of the upgrade of the Pacific Motorway between Eight Mile Plains and Daisy Hill commenced in 2020, the South East Busway will be extended to Springwood bus station. The Pacific Highway upgrade and the Busway extension is expected to be completed in 2024. Eight Mile Plains will then no longer be the last station on the Busway. Eight Mile Plains
Eight Mile Plains is an outer southern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Eight Mile Plains had a population of 15,322 people. Geography Eight Mile Plains is by road south-southeast of the Brisbane GPO. Bulimba Creek forms the northern and western boundary of the suburb. The Gateway Motorway forms the north-eastern boundary and the Pacific Motorway forms the south-eastern boundary. Dominant natural features of the area include Bulimba Creek. Before white settlement the area was home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. There are also areas of remnant bushland in the suburb and a small number of market gardens. A park and ride, also known as incentive parking or a commuter lot, is a parking lot with public transport connections that allows commuters and other people heading to city centres to leave their vehicles and transfer to a bus, rail system (rapid transit, light rail, or commuter rail), or carpool for the remainder of the journey. Gateway Motorway
The Gateway Motorway (M2 to Eight Mile Plains and M1 to Pine River) is a major tolled motorway in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia which includes the Sir Leo Hielscher Bridges (former Gateway Bridge). The motorway is operated by toll road operator Transurban. It bypasses Brisbane in order to provide easier access between the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. It runs from the M2 Logan Motorway in Drewvale (near Browns Plains) to the Gympie Arterial Road in Bald Hills. Logan Road
Logan Road, allocated state routes 95 and 30, is a major road in Brisbane, Queensland. It runs from Springwood in Logan City to Woolloongabba in Brisbane, with most of the route signed as state route 95. The route was formerly the main route to the Gold Coast from Brisbane, until the South East Freeway (now Pacific Motorway) was built. The road runs close to the Gabba and Greenslopes Private Hospital, Mount Gravatt, past Westfield Garden City and the Upper Mount Gravatt busway station. Logan Road provides the quickest access to Mount Gravatt from the south, as well as being the main access road for the Westfield Garden City Shopping Centre. Springwood Bus Station
The Springwood Bus Station, at Springwood, is serviced by TransLink bus routes. It is a major interchange for TransLink's Southern Region, being an important stop for Logan City Bus Service routes between Brisbane and Loganholme. Woolloongabba Busway Station
Woolloongabba busway station is located in Brisbane, Australia serving the suburb of Woolloongabba. It opened on 13 September 2000 when the first section of the South East Busway opened from Melbourne Street, South Brisbane to coincide with the start of the 2000 Olympic football tournament, for which some matches were held in Brisbane. It initially opened for outbound services only, with inbound services commencing on 23 October 2000. It is on a spur from the main trunk route, with inbound services joining the busway proper at Mater Hill. It is adjacent to the Gabba. As part of the abandoned BaT Tunnel project, it was proposed to build a railway station adjacent to the busway station. South East Busway
The South East Busway is a grade separated bus-only road running south from the Brisbane central business district to Eight Mile Plains in Queensland, Australia. The busway was completed to Woolloongabba in September 2000 and to Eight Mile Plains in April 2001. An extension of the busway to School Road at Rochedale was completed in 2014 with no additional busway stations. The maximum capacity of the busway is 18,000 commuters an hour during peak periods. The busway carries an estimated 70 million passengers annually. The busway allows services to branch off along any part to service nearby suburbs. Go Card
The ''go'' card is an electronic smartcard ticketing system developed by Cubic Corporation, which is currently used on the TransLink public transport network in South East Queensland. To use the ''go'' card, users hold the card less than 10 cm away from the reader to "touch on" before starting a journey, and must do the same to "touch off" the service at the end of the journey. The cost of each journey is deducted from the ''go'' card balance. The Queensland Government awarded the $134 million contract to design, build, operate and maintain the ''go'' card system to Cubic Corporation in July 2003. In July 2006, TransLink signed up around 1,000 volunteers to trial the new smartcard system in the Redcliffe area.
