Eiffel is a French rock music, rock group founded in 1998 around Romain Humeau. Their influences range from the Pixies (band), Pixies to Léo Ferré, encompassing Jacques Brel, Sonic Youth, Serge Gainsbourg, The Buzzcocks, Noir Désir, the The Stooges, Stooges, David Bowie, Sixteen Horsepower the Kinks, the Beatles, Tears For Fears, Fugazi, XTC (band), XTC, Deus (band), Deus, and also Boris Vian and Louis Calaferte. Romain Humeau
Romain Humeau (born 10 April 1971) is a French musician best known for being the lead singer of the French band Eiffel (band), Eiffel. Biography Romain was born on 10 April 1971 in Aix-en-Provence, France. He spent his early childhood in Nérac before leaving in 1978. His father was a harpsichord maker and his mother was a flutist. He started learning the violin at the age of 5. He studied music at the Conservatoire de Toulouse from 1989 to 1994. He is married to Eiffel band mate Estelle Humeau. Career Eiffel Humeau was a member of the band Oobik and the Pucks, that formed in 1995. It was after serious differences with their record label that the band reformed to become Eiffel in 1998. Melodica
The melodica is a handheld free-reed instrument similar to a pump organ or harmonica. It features a musical keyboard on top, and is played by blowing air through a mouthpiece that fits into a hole in the side of the instrument. The keyboard usually covers two or three octaves. Melodicas are small, lightweight, and portable, and many are designed for children to play. They are popular in music education programs, especially in Asia. ''Trompe le Monde'' is the fourth studio album by the American alternative rock band Pixies, released on September 23, 1991 on 4AD in the United Kingdom and on September 24, 1991 on Elektra Records in the United States. Recorded in Burbank, California, Paris and London, the album was produced by Gil Norton, and was Pixies' final studio album before their subsequent break-up two years later. ''Trompe le Monde'' is the last album to feature founding bass guitarist Kim Deal. Composition " Head On" is a cover of the Jesus and Mary Chain track. Louis Calaferte (French pronunciation: wi kalafɛrt; 14 July 1928 - 2 May 1994) was an Italian-born French naturalized novelist. He was born in Turin, Italy, but emigrated to France with his parents when he was very young, settling in a Lyon suburb where he spent the majority of his childhood and adolescence. In 1947, he set out for Paris to pursue his dream of becoming an actor, where he found a love for writing instead. Boris Vian (; 10 March 1920 – 23 June 1959) was a French polymath: writer, poet, musician, singer, translator, critic, actor, inventor and engineer who is primarily remembered for his novels. Those published under the pseudonym Vernon Sullivan were bizarre parodies of criminal fiction, highly controversial at the time of their release due to their unconventional outlook. Vian's other fiction, published under his real name, featured a highly individual writing style with numerous made-up words, subtle wordplay and surrealistic plots. His novel '' Froth on the Daydream'' (''L'Écume des jours'') is the best known of these works and one of the few translated into English. Vian was an important influence on the French jazz scene. XTC (band)
XTC were an English rock band formed in Swindon in 1972. Fronted by songwriters Andy Partridge (guitars, vocals) and Colin Moulding (bass, vocals), the band gained popularity during the rise of punk and new wave in the 1970s, later playing in a variety of styles that ranged from angular guitar riffs to elaborately arranged pop. Partly because the group did not fit into contemporary trends, they achieved only sporadic commercial success in the UK and US, but attracted a considerable cult following. Tears for Fears are an English pop rock band formed in Bath, England, in 1981 by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. Founded after the dissolution of their first band, the mod-influenced Graduate, Tears for Fears were associated with the new wave synthesizer bands of the early 1980s, and attained international chart success.
