Eglė Jurgaitytė
Eglė Jurgaitytė (born 24 January 1998, in Vilnius) is a Lithuanian singer and radio presenter. Jurgaitytė represented Lithuania at Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 where she finished in 3rd place. Career She started her singer career in 2002 when she was just four years old. In 2007 and 2008 Jurgaitytė participated at Lithuanian National Radio and Television talent show, Mažųjų žvaigždžių ringas 3", and reached final. In 2008 she won national Lithuanian selection for Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 and represented Lithuania in the contest. In the final, she sang her song "Laiminga diena" and reached 3rd place. In 2010, she participated in TV3 project "Chorų karai" (Lithuanian format of "Clash of the Choirs") where she was leader of second capital city choir of Vilnius. Lithuania In The Junior Eurovision Song Contest
Lithuania has sent four entries to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, first entering at the 2007 Contest in Rotterdam. The national selection process occurs during the show Mažųjų žvaigždžių ringas (Young Stars Ring), in which young singers aged 10–15 will take part with self-written songs. The 2007 Lithuanian entry was Lina Jurevičiūtė, a.k.a. Lina Joy, with the song "Kai miestas snaudžia", who finished 13th in the contest. The 2008 entry was Eglė Jurgaitytė with "Laiminga diena", which ended third for Lithuania at the 2008 Contest in Limassol. After two years of participating LRT withdrew due to financial reasons from the festival in 2009. But they returned in 2010. That year LRT sent Bartas with the song "Oki Doki". It placed 6th out of 14 participants. They also participated in 2011 and sent Paulina Skrabytė with the song "Debesys" which placed 10th. In 2012, the country withdrew again due to expenses. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008 was the sixth edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which is the world's largest song contest for children. It was held at the "Spyros Kyprianou" Athletic Centre in Lemesos, Cyprus and hosted by Alex Michael and Sophia Paraskeva. The theme of the event was "Fun in the Sun", despite the fact that there were thunderstorms in Lemesos the day of the contest. It was won by the Georgian trio Bzikebi, with the song "Bzz..". Ukraine took 2nd place and Lithuania finished 3rd. Bzikebi also became the first group act to win Junior Eurovision. For the contest, various changes to the rules were made. One was that adults could assist children to write the songs submitted to their national broadcaster; previously only children could write the songs, with no assistance from adults.
