Eglisau–Neuhausen Railway Line
The Eglisau–Neuhausen railway line is a cross-border railway line in Germany and Switzerland. It links Eglisau in the Swiss canton of Zurich with the Schaffhausen, city of Schaffhausen in the Swiss canton of Schaffhausen, crossing some of the German state of Baden-Württemberg in between. It thus crosses the Germany–Switzerland border twice. The line is long, standard gauge and electrified at supplied by overhead line. It is formed of a mixture of single and double track sections. History Schaffhausen was first connected to the Swiss railway system in 1857 with the opening of the Rheinfall Railway. Whilst this line was entirely on Swiss soil, and provided a direct link to the Winterthur, city of Winterthur, it only provided a rather indirect route to the rest of Switzerland and the Gotthard Railway. Neuhausen Railway Station
Neuhausen (german: Bahnhof Neuhausen) is a railway station served by S-Bahn services in the municipality of Neuhausen am Rheinfall, in the Swiss canton of Schaffhausen. Location The railway station is located at the junction of the Rheinfall line and the Eglisau to Neuhausen line, next to the River Rhine at the eastern end of the town of Neuhausen am Rheinfall. Neuhausen station is one of three stations in Neuhausen, the other two being Neuhausen Badischer Bahnhof and . Lottstetten Station
Lottstetten is a railway station in the German state of Baden-Württemberg and municipality of Lottstetten. Special situation Despite its location in Germany, the station is located on the Eglisau to Neuhausen line of the Swiss Federal Railway (SBB) that crosses the Germany–Switzerland border twice on its route between the Swiss cantons of Zurich and Schaffhausen. Lottstetten is one of only two Swiss operated stations located entirely within Germany, the other being Jestetten. Until December 2010 a third station was in operation, namely Altenburg-Rheinau, located in Altenburg, part of Jestetten, close to the border with Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland, however despite protests from the German authorities, the station was closed by the Swiss due to low passenger numbers. Swiss Northeastern Railway
The Swiss Northeastern Railway (''Schweizerische Nordostbahn''; NOB) was an early railway company in Switzerland. It also operated shipping on Lake Constance (''Bodensee'') and Lake Zürich. Until the merger of the Western Swiss Railways into the Jura–Simplon Railway (JS) in 1890/91, it was the largest Swiss railway company. The Gotthard railway (german: Gotthardbahn; it, Ferrovia del Gottardo) is the Swiss trans-alpine railway line from northern Switzerland to the canton of Ticino. The line forms a major part of an important international railway link between northern and southern Europe, especially on the Rotterdam-Basel-Genoa corridor. Rheinfall Railway
The Rheinfall Railway (german: Rheinfallbahn) is a railway line in Switzerland. The line links Winterthur in the canton of Zurich with Schaffhausen in the canton of Schaffhausen.
