EggPlantEgg (; Taiwanese Hokkien: 茄仔卵; ) is a Taiwanese band founded in 2012 in Taipei, composed of lead vocalist Ng Ki-pin, guitarist A-ren Tsai, and guitarist A-der Hsieh. The band is known for spearheading a renaissance in Hokkien pop. Hokkien pop, also known as Taiwanese Hokkien popular music, T-pop (), Tai-pop, Minnan Pop and Taiwanese song (), is a popular music genre sung in Taiwanese Hokkien and produced mainly in Taiwan. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Mandopop or Mandapop refers to Mandarin popular music. The genre has its origin in the jazz-influenced popular music of 1930s Shanghai known as Shidaiqu; with later influences coming from Japanese enka, Hong Kong's Cantopop, Taiwan's Hokkien pop, and in particular the Campus Song folk movement of the 1970s.
