''Ege Bamyası'' (, lit. "Aegean region, Aegean okra") is the third studio album by Germany, German krautrock band Can (band), Can, released on 29 November 1972 by United Artists Records. The album contains the single "Spoon (Can song), Spoon", which charted in the Top 10 on the GfK Entertainment charts, German singles chart after its inclusion as the theme song to the German television mini-series ' (1971). The success of the single allowed Can to establish their own studio, in Weilerswist, where they completed the rest of the album. It was recorded and produced under a strict June 1972 deadline, finishing "Soup" a day before the end date. ''Ege Bamyası'' was met with critical acclaim, praised for skilful fusion of experimental music, electronic music, electronic sounds, and avant-funk. Can (band)
Can (stylized in all caps) were a German experimental rock band formed in Cologne in 1968 by Holger Czukay (bass, tape editing), Irmin Schmidt (keyboards), Michael Karoli (guitar), and Jaki Liebezeit (drums). They featured several vocalists, including American Malcolm Mooney (1968–70) and Japanese Damo Suzuki (1970–73). They have been hailed as pioneers of the German krautrock scene. Sacrilege (album)
''Sacrilege'' is a triple remix album by the krautrock band Can, released in 1997. The album was proposed by the head of the Mute Records, Daniel Miller, who remixed also participated in the project remixing a drum-and-bass version of "Oh Yeah". ''Sacrilege'' features compositions Can composed throughout their career in the 1960s-70s and remixed by "both old friends of the group and admirers from a younger generation". The remix of "Spoon" by Sonic Youth was sampled by Tyler, The Creator for the song "Foreword" on his 4th album, ''Flower Boy''. Reception Michael Karoli, the guitarist of Can, liked the remix version of their work, saying "they have done the band great justice. A remix album is an album consisting of remixes or rerecorded versions of an artist's earlier released material. System 7 (band)
System 7 are a UK-based electronic dance music band. Due to the existence of another band called System Seven they were initially billed as 777 in North America. System 7 was also the name of the current version of the Macintosh operating system at the time, although this was not the reason for the temporary name change. Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy, both formerly of Gong, formed System 7 in 1989, after a period of several years becoming gradually immersed in the developments of electronic and dance music in the UK while Steve was working mainly as a record producer for other artists. Bruce Clifford Gilbert (born 18 May 1946) is an English musician. One of the founding members of the influential and experimental art punk band Wire,Strong, Martin C. The Orb
The Orb are an English electronic music group founded in 1988 by Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty. Sonic Youth
Sonic Youth were an American rock band formed in New York City in 1981. Brian Peter George Jean-Baptiste de la Salle Eno (, born 15 May 1948), also mononymously known as Eno, is an English musician, songwriter, record producer, visual artist, and activist. He is best known for his pioneering contributions to ambient music and electronica, and for producing, recording, and writing works in rock music, rock and pop music. Post-punk
Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of music that emerged in late 1977 in the wake of punk rock. Post-punk musicians departed from punk's fundamental elements and raw simplicity, instead adopting a broader, more experimental approach that encompassed a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences.
