''Sacrilege'' is a double remix album by the band Can, released in 1997. It features remixes of many of the band's best-known songs from the 1960s and 1970s, remixed by contemporary recording artists. The remix of "Spoon" by Sonic Youth was sampled by Tyler, The Creator for the song "Foreword" on his 4th album, ''Flower Boy''. Remix Album
A remix album is an album consisting of remixes or rerecorded versions of an artist's earlier released material. The first act who employed the format was American singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson (''Aerial Pandemonium Ballet'', 1971). As of 2007, the best-selling remix album of all time is Michael Jackson's ''Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix'' (1997). History and concept ''Aerial Pandemonium Ballet'' (1971) by Harry Nilsson is credited as the first remix album. It was released after the successes of "Everybody's Talkin'" and ''The Point!'', when he decided that his older material had started to sound dated. Neu!'s ''Neu! 2'' (1973) has also been described as "in effect the first remix album", as many tracks see the duo "speed up, slow down, cut, doctor, and mutilate the material, sometimes beyond recognition". Flower Boy
''Flower Boy'' (alternatively titled ''Scum Fuck Flower Boy'') is the fourth studio album by American rapper Tyler, the Creator. The album was released on July 21, 2017, by Columbia Records. Produced entirely by Tyler, the album features guest vocals from a range of artists, including Frank Ocean, ASAP Rocky, Anna of the North, Lil Wayne, Kali Uchis, Steve Lacy, Estelle, Jaden Smith and Rex Orange County. ''Flower Boy'' was supported by four singles: " Who Dat Boy" / "911", "Boredom", "I Ain't Got Time!" and "See You Again". System 7 (band)
System 7 are a UK-based electronic dance music band. Due to the existence of another band called System Seven they were initially billed as 777 in North America. System 7 was also the name of the current version of the Macintosh operating system at the time, although this was not the reason for the temporary name change. Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy, both formerly of Gong, formed System 7 in 1989, after a period of several years becoming gradually immersed in the developments of electronic and dance music in the UK while Steve was working mainly as a record producer for other artists. A key early collaborator was DJ Alex Paterson (of the Orb), whom Steve and Miquette heard playing Hillage's 1979 ambient record '' Rainbow Dome Musick'' in an ambient DJ set at the London club Heaven. Pete Shelley
Pete Shelley (born Peter Campbell McNeish; 17 April 1955 – 6 December 2018) was an English singer, songwriter and guitarist. He formed early punk band Buzzcocks with Howard Devoto in 1976, and became the lead singer and guitarist in 1977 when Devoto left. The group released their biggest hit "Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)" in 1978. The band broke up in 1981 and reformed at the end of the decade. Shelley also had a solo career; his song " Homosapien" charted in the US in 1981. Biography Shelley was born to Margaret and John McNeish at 48 Milton Street, in Leigh, Lancashire. Carl Craig (born May 22, 1969) is an American electronic music producer, DJ, and founder of the record label Planet E Communications. He is known as a leading figure and pioneer in the second wave of Detroit techno artists during the late 1980s and early 1990s. He has recorded under his given name in addition to a variety of aliases, including Psyche, BFC, and Innerzone Orchestra. Craig has remixed a variety of artists including Manuel Göttsching, Maurizio, Theo Parrish, Tori Amos, and Depeche Mode. Holger Hiller
Holger Hiller (born 26 December 1956) is a German musician. Hiller studied art at the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg, where he met Walter Thielsch and Thomas Fehlmann and recorded first works with them. With Fehlmann he later founded the band Palais Schaumburg in 1980, of which he was the singer. At the same time his solo career began. Hiller was one of the first musicians in Europe to use the sampler as his main or sole instrument. From 1984 on, he lived in London, eventually working as producer for Mute Records. In 1988, he started a band project called Ohi Ho Bang Bang with video artist Akiko Hada, recording a song/video called "The Two," releasing it as both a 12" single and a CD Video. Daniel Otto Joachim Miller (born 14 February 1951) is an English music producer and founder of Mute Records. Biography Miller is the son of two Austrian-Jewish refugees from Nazism, Martin Miller and Hannah Norbert-Miller, born into a family of actors. The Orb
The Orb are an English electronic music group founded in 1988 by Alex Paterson and Jimmy Cauty. Known for their psychedelic sound, the Orb developed a cult following among clubbers "coming down" from drug-induced highs. Their influential 1991 debut album ''The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld'' pioneered the UK's nascent ambient house movement, while its UK chart-topping follow-up ''U.F.Orb'' represented the genre's commercial peak. Halleluhwah
"Halleluwah" (alternatively titled "Halleluhwah" on some post-1989 releases) is a song by the krautrock band Can, from their 1971 album ''Tago Mago''. The track, which originally took up a whole side of long-playing vinyl record, lasts for 18 minutes and 28 seconds and is characteristic of the band's sound around 1971 in that it features a vast array of improvised guitars and keyboards, tape editing, and the rhythm section "pounding out a monster trance/funk beat". The drum beat for which the song is famous is repeated almost continuously by Jaki Liebezeit, with only minor variations, throughout the course of the 18-minute jam. In one line of the song, Damo Suzuki's lyrics mention all the songs from side one of ''Tago Mago'': " mushroom head, oh yeah, paper house." The original UK pressing of ''Tago Mago'' misprinted the song's title as "Hallelujah" both on the LP's center label and on the back flap of the album jacket. Vitamin C (song)
"Vitamin C" is a song by the krautrock band Can on their 1972 album '' Ege Bamyası''. Considering its short length and relatively standard song structure, it is one of the band's more conventional songs. It was featured in Samuel Fuller's German television ''Tatort'' production ''Tote Taube in der Beethovenstraße'' (''Dead Pigeon on Beethoven Street'') in 1973, and then also released as a single with the B-side "I'm So Green". In 1997, an 8-minute version of the song, remixed by British musical outfit U.N.K.L.E., was featured on Can's double remix album ''Sacrilege''. ''Vitamin C'' was featured in the opening of Paul Thomas Anderson's 2014 film ''Inherent Vice''. Bruce Clifford Gilbert (born 18 May 1946) is an English musician. One of the founding members of the influential and experimental art punk band Wire (band), Wire,Strong, Martin C.
