Efraín Sánchez
Efraín Elías "El Caimán" Sánchez Casimiro (26 February 1926 – 16 January 2020) was a Colombian footballer who played as goalkeeper. He competed for the Colombia national football team at the 1962 FIFA World Cup which was held in Chile. Among other teams, he played for San Lorenzo of Argentina in the 1940s. He won the Colombian league title three times during his career. Career Sánchez played for Mexican side Club Atlas in 1959. After retiring as a player Sánchez went into management, taking charge of the Colombia national team on three occasions. The 1964 Campeonato Profesional was the 17th season of Colombia's top-flight football league. 13 teams competed against one another. Millonarios won the league for the ninth time in its history and fourth in a row, defending successfully the title won in the previous three seasons. Background and league system The same 13 teams from the last tournament competed in this one. The tournament was once again played under a round-robin format, with every team playing each other four times (twice at home and twice away) for a total of 48 matches. Millonarios Fútbol Club is a professional Colombian football team based in Bogotá, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera A. They play their home games at the El Campín stadium. Millonarios was initially created in 1937 by students from the Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé. The 1957 Campeonato Profesional was the tenth season of Colombia's top-flight football league. The tournament consisted of a first stage, a cancelled octagonal stage, and a two-group second stage, and ended on 13 April 1958. 12 teams participated in the tournament. Independiente Medellín won the league for 2nd time in its history after defeating Cúcuta Deportivo in the championship playoff with an aggregate score of 8–3.
