Hurricane Ian caused severe damage in Florida in September 2022, becoming the costliest hurricane in state history. Ian also became the deadliest hurricane in Florida since the 1935 Labor Day hurricane. Preparations Prior to Ian's landfall, Florida was already predicted to receive large amounts of flooding.
