Eero Rahola
Eero Rahola (15 January 1897 – 22 May 1975) was a Finnish Counter admiral and civil servant. Eero Rahola was born in Mänttä. He participated in the Finnish Civil War on the side of the Whites and took part in the Battle of Helsinki. Subsequently, he fought in the Estonian War of Independence. Between 1919 and 1921 he was stationed as a Finnish officer in Italy, where he also served three months aboard the Italian cruiser Francesco Ferruccio. He stayed in Italy and studied at the Italian Naval Academy; he graduated in 1925. Upon his return to Finland he served as a naval officer in several high positions. Between 1936 and 1940, i.e. also during the Winter War, he was commander of the coastal navy, and commander of the Finnish Navy 1940–1945, i.e. also during the Continuation War. Rahola Ja Valve
Rahola is a district in Tampere, Finland. The area is located on northern shore of Pyhäjärvi lake, south of the Tampere–Pori railway. The area has been inhabited since medieval times. The climate on area sloping south to lakeside is favourable for agriculture, and there have been several manor houses. The area has been also an important transport hub, as the roads to Ylöjärvi and Nokia meet there. Railway to Pori was built 1895, and the motorway in 1964. The area become part of Tampere in 1937. Continuation War
The Continuation War, also known as the Second Soviet-Finnish War, was a conflict fought by Finland and Nazi Germany against the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1944, as part of World War II.; sv, fortsättningskriget; german: Fortsetzungskrieg. According to Finnish historian Olli Vehviläinen, the term 'Continuation War' was created at the start of the conflict by the Finnish government, to justify the invasion to the population as a continuation of the defensive Winter War and separate from the German war effort. Finnish Navy
The Finnish Navy ( fi, Merivoimat, sv, Marinen) is one of the branches of the Finnish Defence Forces. The navy employs 2,300 people and about 4,300 conscripts are trained each year. Finnish Navy vessels are given the ship prefix "FNS", short for "Finnish Navy ship", but this is not used in Finnish language contexts. The Finnish Navy also includes coastal forces and coastal artillery. Organization The current Commander of the Navy is rear admiral Jori Harju. The navy is organized into the Navy Command, three Brigade-level units, and the Naval Academy.
