Edwin Edwards (5 April 1862 – 31 May 1909) was a New Zealand businessman, local politician, newspaper proprietor and editor, balladeer. He was born in Camberwell, Surrey, England on 5 April 1862. Camberwell
Camberwell () is a district of South London, England, in the London Borough of Southwark, southeast of Charing Cross. Camberwell was first a village associated with the church of St Giles and a common of which Goose Green is a remnant. This early parish included the neighbouring hamlets of Peckham, Dulwich, Nunhead, and part of Herne Hill (the rest of Herne Hill was in the parish of Lambeth). Until 1889, it was part of the county of Surrey. In 1900 the original parish became the Metropolitan Borough of Camberwell. Surrey () is a ceremonial and non-metropolitan county in South East England, bordering Greater London to the south west. Alfred Cadman
Sir Alfred Jerome Cadman (17 June 1847 – 23 March 1905) was a New Zealand politician of the Liberal Party. He was the Minister of Railways from 1895 to 1899 in the Liberal Government. Early life Cadman was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1847. His family emigrated to Auckland in 1848. Political career He was the Member of Parliament for several electorates: Coromandel 1881–1890, Thames 1890–1893 (resigned), City of Auckland 1893, Waikato 1893–1896 and 1896–1899, when he retired from the Lower House. He resigned and was re-elected in the 1893 by-election after a challenge to his personal integrity. In 1899 he was then appointed to the Legislative Council, of which he was a member from 21 December 1899 until he died, and was Speaker from 7 July 1904 until he died. The ''Auckland Star'' was an evening daily newspaper published in Auckland, New Zealand, from 24 March 1870 to 16 August 1991. Survived by its Sunday edition, the ''Sunday Star'', part of its name endures in ''The Sunday Star-Times'', created in the 1994 merger of the ''Dominion Sunday Times'' and the ''Sunday Star''. Originally published as the ''Evening Star'' from 24 March 1870 to 7 March 1879, the paper continued as the ''Auckland Evening Star'' between 8 March 1879 and 12 April 1887, and from then on as the ''Auckland Star''.
