Edward Spry
Edward James Spry (31 July 1881 – 18 November 1958) was an English cricketer active from 1889 to 1921. Born in Bristol, Spry was a right-handed batsman and leg break bowler. He made nearly ninety appearances in first-class cricket for Gloucestershire. Career Spry played for Westbury for a short time before joining the Imperial Cricket Club. Between 1910 and 1929 he completed 225 innings with an average of over 35 and took 1,329 wickets at a cost of 10.9 runs each. On three occasions he took more than 100 wickets in a season (Saturdays only) - a great feat when one remembers that it was achieved in a little over 20 games per year. He played many times for Gloucestershire and on retirement from active participation in the game continued to serve the game he, loved in a variety of capacities. Crystal Palace Park Cricket Ground was a cricket ground in Crystal Palace in south-east London. It was located in Crystal Palace Park in the shadow of The Crystal Palace. The ground was established on 3 June 1857 and used for first-class cricket between 1864 and 1906. The site of the ground was part of the county of Kent when it was first established and it was initially used by Kent County Cricket Club in the 1860s before becoming the main ground for London County Cricket Club between 1900 and 1904. Knowle is a district and wards of the United Kingdom, council ward in the south east of the city of Bristol in England, United Kingdom. London County Cricket Club
London County Cricket Club was a short-lived cricket club founded by the Crystal Palace Company. In 1898 they invited WG Grace to help them form a first-class cricket club. Grace accepted the offer and became the club's secretary, manager and captain. As a result, he severed his connection with Gloucestershire CCC during the 1899 season. The club played first-class matches between 1900 and 1904. The club's home ground was Crystal Palace Park Cricket Ground in south London.
