Eduardo De Castro (filmmaker)
Marvin Edward Gardner (July 7, 1907 – November 17, 1955) professionally known as Eduardo de Castro, was a Filipino actor and filmmaker of American descent. Early life Eduardo de Castro was born Marvin Edward Gardner in Sampaloc, Manila on July 7, 1907 to William Henry Gardner, a police officer in Manila and to Ceferina De Castro. His father was an American soldier who fought in the Philippine–American War who decided to settle in the islands after the conflict and worked as police officer in 1901. Marvin's parents had six children, two whom died at infancy with two boys and two girls being the remaining children. In the 1920s, de Castro worked as a seafarer who worked in a freighter which sails to the United States before starting his acting career in the 1930s. Career De Castro is known for directing the 1937 film '' Zamboanga'', which is among the first studio-type film production in the Philippines. Known by the screen name Fleur de Lis before and during World War II, she was one of the renowned Filipina actresses of the late 1930s and 1940s. Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), also known as Baguio General Hospital (BGH), is a hospital in Baguio, Philippines. It is the largest government funded tertiary hospital in the Northern Luzon Region. History The hospital was pioneered by American physician Dr. Eugene Stafford in February 1902 as an eight-bed sanatorium at the area where the present-day Baguio office of Commission of Elections stands. It transferred to its current area in 1907 when their previous area was converted into the Pines Hotel. The sanatorium grew into a hospital and was named as Baguio Hospital in 1907 and then to Baguio General Hospital in 1937. Fort Santiago
Fort Santiago ( es, Fuerte de Santiago; fil, Kutà ng Santiago), built in 1571, is a citadel built by Spanish navigator and governor Miguel López de Legazpi for the newly established city of Manila in the Philippines. The defense fortress is located in Intramuros, the walled city of Manila. The fort is one of the most important historical sites in Manila. Several people died in its prisons during the Spanish Empire and World War II. José Rizal, one of the Philippine national heroes, was imprisoned here before his execution in 1896.
