Eduard Toldrà
Eduard Toldrà Soler (; Vilanova i la Geltrú 7 April 1895 – Barcelona, 31 May 1962) was a Spanish Catalan composer and conductor. Toldrà played an important role in the Culture of Barcelona. In 1944 he founded the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra at the Palau de la Música Catalana, where his deputy in 1957 was his friend Ricardo Lamote de Grignon. Toldrà was a regular juror on the Maria Canals International Music Competition. His students included Antoni Ros-Marbà and Xavier Montsalvatge. The personal papers of Eduard Toldrà are preserved in the Biblioteca de Catalunya. Francisco De Quevedo
Francisco Gómez de Quevedo y Santibáñez Villegas, Knight of the Order of Santiago (; 14 September 1580 – 8 September 1645) was a Spanish nobleman, politician and writer of the Baroque era. Along with his lifelong rival, Luis de Góngora, Quevedo was one of the most prominent Spanish poets of the age. His style is characterized by what was called ''conceptismo''. This style existed in stark contrast to Góngora's ''culteranismo''. Garcilaso De La Vega (poet)
Garcilaso de la Vega, KOS (c. 1501 – 14 October 1536) was a Spanish soldier and poet. Although not the first or the only one to do so, he was the most influential poet to introduce Italian Renaissance verse forms, poetic techniques, and themes to Spain. He was well known in poetic circles during his lifetime, and his poetry has continued to be popular without interruption until the present. His poetry was published posthumously by Juan Boscán in 1543, and it has been the subject of several annotated editions, the first and most famous of which appeared in 1574. Biography Garcilaso was born in the Spanish city of Toledo between 1498 and 1503. Clavería Boscán affirms he was born between 1487 and 1492, and another sources affirms he was born in 1501. Joan Salvat-Papasseit
Joan Salvat-Papasseit (; Barcelona, 16 May 1894 – 7 August 1924) was a Catalan poet, though he also wrote articles, manifestos and other prose of a political and social nature. He wrote primarily in Catalan, although he had an early period of essay-writing in Spanish. His work is notable for its nonconformity, idealism and foreboding of premature death. His poetry, with both avant-garde and traditional influences, begins with the publication of ''Poemes en ondes hertzianes'' (Poems in Hertzian Waves) in 1919. The cover illustration for the book was created by Joaquín Torres García. Further works of poetry were "La gesta dels estels" (The Exploit of the Stars) in 1922 and the culmination of the poet's vital enthusiasm in "El poema de la rosa als llavis" (Poem of the Rose in the Lips) in 1923. Tomàs Garcés
Tomàs Garcés i Miravet (; 9 October 1901 – 16 November 1993, Barcelona) was a Catalan poet and lawyer. Garcés was born in Barcelona. He studied law, philosophy, and literature at the University of Barcelona. At the time of the Spanish Civil War Garcés fled to France where he was a teacher of Spanish language in the University of Toulouse. He returned to Catalonia in 1947. Tomas was called "The Catalan poet of song" for his short regular verses. Josep Maria de Sagarra i de Castellarnau (Barcelona, 5 March 1894 – 27 September 1961) was a Catalan-language writer from Barcelona, Catalonia. Biography Born in Barcelona in 1894, in the breast of a family of the Catalan nobility being son of the historian and Sigillography, sigilógrafo Fernando de Sagarra i de Siscar.
