Edmunds Sprūdžs
Edmunds Sprūdžs (born 21 June 1980 in Riga) is a Latvian politician and businessman. He is the former Minister for the Environmental protection, Environmental Protection and Regional Development of Latvia and a member of the Reform Party (Latvia), Reform Party. Career He was elected to the Saeima at the 2011 Latvian parliamentary election, 2011 parliamentary election. He was the Reform Party's candidate for Prime Minister of Latvia, Prime Minister at the 2011 election. Sprūdžs was appointed Minister for the Environmental Protection and Regional Development in October 2011. As of 2017, he is known to be involved in various businesses at the center of "Small Wonderland" in Sigulda, where townships are modeled with train models drive on rails, miniature cars roll on the streets residential houses and depot buildings. 2011 Latvian Parliamentary Election
Early parliamentary elections were held in Latvia on 17 September 2011, following the country's first parliamentary dissolution referendum held on 23 July 2011. The previous parliamentary election was only held in October 2010. The elections resulted in Harmony Centre winning the most seats, up two to 31. This was the first time a pro-Russian party had won the most seats in a Latvian election. Unity, previously the largest party, fell to third, with 20 seats, behind the newly formed Zatlers' Reform Party, led by ex-President Valdis Zatlers, who had triggered the dissolution referendum in May. The right-wing National Alliance gained six seats to 14. Both the Union of Greens and Farmers and Latvia's First Party/Latvian Way lost heavily, with the latter falling out of the Saeima altogether. Sigulda
Sigulda (; german: Segewold, pl, Zygwold, russian: Сигулда) is a town in the Vidzeme region of Latvia, from the capital city Riga. Overview Sigulda is on a picturesque stretch of the primeval Gauja river valley. Because of the reddish Devonian sandstone which forms steep rocks and caves on both banks of the river, Sigulda has been called the "Switzerland of Vidzeme". After the restoration of Latvian independence in 1991, an emphasis was placed on conserving Sigulda's public monuments and parks as well as improving the town's tourist sector. The Saeima () is the parliament of the Latvia, Republic of Latvia. It is a unicameral parliament consisting of 100 members who are elected by proportional representation, with seats allocated to political parties which gain at least 5% of the popular vote.
