Edmond Nazaryan
Edmond Armen Nazaryan ( bg, Едмонд Армен Назарян, born 19 January 2002) is a Bulgarian Greco-Roman wrestler of Armenian descent. He won the silver medal in the 60 kg event at the 2022 World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia. Edmond is also a four-time medalist, including two gold medals, at the European Wrestling Championships. Career In 2018, Nazaryan won the bronze medal in the boys' Greco-Roman 45kg event at the Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the bronze medal match he defeated Arslanbek Zakirbayev of Turkmenistan. He won the gold medal in the 55kg event at the 2020 European Wrestling Championships held in Rome, Italy. European Juniors Wrestling Championships
The European Wrestling Championships is the second oldest international wrestling competition of the modern world and the main wrestling championships in Europe. It predates World Wrestling Championships and other regional wrestling championships and is second only to the wrestling events at the Olympics. From its inception in 1898 till 1927 only Greco-Roman wrestling was contested. Since 1929 separate freestyle wrestling events were held as well. Since 1970 the two Olympic wrestling styles were contested together during the same unified events. Since 1973 Sambo wrestling was included into the championships programme along with GR and freestyle wrestling (subsequently discontinued and from 1983 contested separately). Armen Nazaryan ( hy, Արմեն Նազարյան, bg, Армен Назарян, born 9 March 1974) is an Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler who later represented Bulgaria. Nazaryan is a two-time Olympic Champion (1996, 2000), a three-time World Champion (2002, 2003, 2005), and a six-time European Champion (1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003). After Armenia regained independence in 1991, Nazaryan became the first Olympic gold medalist for the country. He was recognized by the FILA as the best wrestler of the year in 1998 and 2003. In 2007, Nazaryan was inducted as a member of the FILA Hall of Fame. Early life Nazaryan was born on 9 March 1974 in Masis, Armenia. Victor Ciobanu (born 7 October 1992) is a Moldovan Greco-Roman wrestler. He won the gold medal in the 60kg event at the 2021 World Wrestling Championships held in Oslo, Norway. He is the first wrestler representing Moldova to win a gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the World Wrestling Championships. The 2018 Summer Youth Olympics ( es, Juegos Olímpicos de la Juventud de 2018), officially known as the III Summer Youth Olympic Games, and commonly known as Buenos Aires 2018, were an international sports, cultural, and educational event held from 6 to 18 October 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Wrestling At The 2018 Summer Youth Olympics
Wrestling at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 12 to 14 October. The events took place at the Parque Polideportivo Roca#Olympic Park, Asia Pavilion in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) can enter a maximum of 6 competitors, 2 in Boys' Freestyle, 2 in Boys' Greco-Roman and 2 in Girls' Freestyle. As hosts, Argentina was given 3 quotas, one in each discipline should they participate in the Cadet Pan American Championships. A further 12, 8 male and 4 female athletes were decided by the Tripartite Commission. The remaining 95 athletes, 50 male and 45 female qualified over five continental qualification tournaments. For the boys’ events, each continent qualified 1 athlete while for the girls’ events the top 3 Europeans, top 2 Asians and Pan Americans and the top African and Oceanian athletes qualified.
