Editors' Council
Editors' Council () is a national organization of newspaper editors in Bangladesh that campaigns for freedom of speech and freedom of the press. Mahfuz Anam of '' The Daily Star'' and Dewan Hanif Mahmud, editor of '' Bonik Barta'' are the president and general secretary of the council. History Editors' Council was established in 2013. The founding members were AMM Bahauddin ('' Daily Inqilab''), Alamgir Mohiuddin (''Daily Naya Diganta''), Anwar Hossain Manju ('' The Daily Ittefaq''), A. H. M. ''New Nation'' was a weekly newspaper published in the UK for the Black British community. Launched in 1996, the newspaper was Britain's Number 1-selling black newspaper. The paper was published every Monday. ''New Nation'' was initially launched in November 1996, by Elkin Pianim and his wife Elisabeth Murdoch, daughter of the media tycoon Rupert Murdoch. They later sold the title to Ethnic Media Group, a leading publisher of weekly newspapers, magazines, websites and digital newspapers for Britain's African, Caribbean, Black British and Asian communities, until the company went into administration in 2009. Shifuzzaman "Md." Shikhor (born 1 October 1971) is a Bangladeshi politician who in the former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Magura-1 constituency. He is connected to the politics of Bangladesh Awami League. His father was Mohammad Asaduzzaman, an MP of Magura-2 constituency and his sister Kamrul Laila Jolly was an MP of Jatiyo Sangsad. Matiur Rahman Chowdhury
Matiur Rahman Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi journalist, editor and talk-show host. He is the editor-in-chief of the ''Manab Zamin'', a Bengali language tabloid newspaper. Chowdhury also reports for ''Voice of America'' (Bangla) as a correspondent. He has hosted a late night chat-show, Ajker Sangbadpatra, on Channel i, a privately owned broadcast channel, since 2005. He also hosted another political chat-show, called ''Frontline'', on Banglavision, before it was suspended citing "technical problems". However, several journalists including Chowdhury claimed that authorities were behind the closure. Chowdhury serves as treasurer of the Newspaper Owners' Association of Bangladesh (NOAB) and a member of Editors' Council, an organisation of newspaper editors in the country. Golam Sarwar
Golam Sarwar (1 April 1943 – 13 August 2018) was a Bangladeshi journalist and writer. He served as the founding editor of ''Samakal'' and ''Jugantor''. He was awarded Ekushey Padak by the Government of Bangladesh in 2014. Early life and education Sarwar obtained his bachelor's and master's in Bengali Literature from the University of Dhaka. Career In his student life in 1962, Sarwar started his career as a university correspondent at ''The Azadi''. He also joined ''The Sangbad'' as a sub-editor. After the Independence of Bangladesh in 1971, he served as the headmaster of Banaripara Union Institution.
