Edinburgh International
The Edinburgh International is an annual bonspiel, or curling tournament, that takes place in late November at the Murrayfield Curling Club in Edinburgh, Scotland. The tournament is held in a round robin format. History The tournament was started in 1922 as the Worlds Curling Championship, an open competition between Scottish curlers held at the Haymarket Ice Rink. The tournament was renamed the Edinburgh International Curling Championship in 1975 in order for the International Curling Federation to reserve the name "World Curling Championship" for the Air Canada Silver Broom, the men's world curling championship at the time. It became an invitational tournament, inviting the semifinalists of the same year's World Championships, and moved venues to the Murrayfield Curling Rink. A period of decreased interest in the tournament led to the event's relegation from a highly respected international tournament to a domestic circuit tournament. Bonspiel
A bonspiel is a curling tournament, consisting of several games, often held on a weekend. Until the 20th century most bonspiels were held outdoors, on a frozen freshwater loch. Today almost all bonspiels are held indoors on specially prepared artificial ice. Bernhard Attinger (born 22 July 1953) is a former Swiss curler. He played third position on the Swiss rink that won two (, ) and medals at the s in and (silver) and (bronze). He works as a vice-president of Curling Club Dübendorf and as a vice-president of Dübendorf-based company "Rossweid Immobilien AG". Len Dudman
Leonard Charles Dudman (4 August 1933 – 12 February 2004) was a Scottish international cricketer who also represented his country in curling and Junior football. A right-handed batsman, he made his highest first-class score of 161 against Warwickshire in July 1956. He was prolific for Perthshire in Scottish domestic cricket, managing 11130 runs. As a footballer, Dudman was capped once for the Scotland Junior international team in February 1956 whilst playing for Coupar Angus and subsequently stepped up to play for Falkirk and Forfar Athletic.
