Edgars Creek Trail
__NOTOC__ The Edgars Creek Trail is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians in the suburb of Thomastown, an inner northern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. It leads to the historic village of Westgarthtown. Following the Path The path is signed on the Western Ring Road Trail. Leaving the Western Ring Road Trail the trail immediately degenerates into a goat track beside Edgars Creek. On the north side of Spring St a private property blocks the path. Further to the north and about 1 km later, it returns to a decent concrete path. Connections Dead end in the north at German Lane. Thomastown Railway Station, Melbourne
Thomastown railway station is located on the Mernda line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the northern Melbourne suburb of Thomastown, and it opened on 23 December 1889. History Opening on 23 December 1889, when the railway line was extended from Reservoir to Epping, Thomastown station, like the suburb itself, is named after John and Mary Thomas, who began market gardening near Edgars Creek in 1848. The station was originally serviced by regional trains on the line to Whittlesea. Electrification and suburban services were extended along 4.4 kilometres of single track from Reservoir to Thomastown in 1929, paid for by a land developer, who paid for the works and who also guaranteed against operating losses. __NOTOC__ The M80 Trail (previously known as the Western Ring Road Trail) is a shared-use path for cyclists and pedestrians that bridges the northern suburbs and follows the Western Ring Road/Metropolitan Ring Road (M80) freeway in Melbourne, Australia. Route The western end of the path begins at the end of Merino Street in Sunshine West, branching off from the Federation Trail. The path then runs relatively parallel to the Western Ring Road. Edgars Creek
Edgar's Creek is a minor creek tributary of the Merri Creek in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. Edgars Creek has a catchment on the basalt plains in Wollert, Victoria, Wollert and flows south through the suburbs of Epping, Thomastown and Reservoir, to join the Merri Creek at North Coburg. Sites of geomorphological significance located along the creek include a silurian bed waterfall, a high cliff which exposes the Melbourne Formation sediments, and Pleistocene alluvial terraces and meanders where bones of extinct marsupials such as Diprotodon have been found. These flats have been shown to contain Aboriginal archaeological material and were used for Market Gardens and associated with the McKay farm in the nineteenth century.
