Eddie Wilcoxen
Eddie D. Wilcoxen (born 1949) served as the eighteenth poet laureate of the state of Oklahoma, appointed by Governor Brad Henry. Previous to his appointment, Wilcoxen was well known as a broadcaster with KWHW (AM) in Altus, Oklahoma. Wilcoxen's poetry is best classified as "folk" poetry, with an emphasis on rural life and traditions. Wilcoxen was also an accomplished karateka, training under the accomplished karateka and kickboxer, Joe Lewis. Charles Bradford Henry (born July 10, 1963) is an American lawyer and politician who was the 26th governor of Oklahoma from 2003 to 2011. KWHW (1450 AM) is an American radio station licensed to serve Altus, the seat of Jackson County in southwestern Oklahoma, United States. Established in 1947, KWHW is owned by James G Boles , Jr. It airs a full service mix of music, news, sports, and local programming. The station is simulcast on sister station KPRO (93.5 FM). Programming KWHW broadcasts a full-service country music format along with farm reports on weekdays. Sunday programming is primarily church broadcasts and Gospel music programming. KWHW airs a tradio program called "Swap Shop" on weekday and Saturday mornings. The station broadcasts the meetings of the Altus City Council on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Joe Lewis (martial Artist)
Joseph Henry Lewis (March 7, 1944 – August 31, 2012) was an American karateka, kickboxer, and actor. As a fighter, Lewis gained fame for his matches in the 1960s and 1970s, and was nicknamed "the Muhammad Ali of karate." He has twice been voted the greatest fighter in karate history, having won innumerable karate tournaments, and has attained the titles of "United States Heavyweight Kickboxing Champion," "World Heavyweight Full Contact Karate Champion," and "United States National Black Belt Kata Champion." His friend and training partner Bruce Lee coined him "The Greatest Karate Fighter of All Time."
