Eddie Ioane
Eddie Ioane (born June 2, 1966) is a Samoan rugby union player. He played as lock. Career His first match for Samoa was against Tonga, at Apia, on June 17, 1990. He was also part of the 1991 Rugby World Cup roster. He retired after the World Cup. In the NPC he played for Auckland. Personal life He is married with the former Black Fern Sandra Wihongi and he is the father of Akira and Rieko Ioane, both of them playing for the All Blacks Sevens and for the All Blacks. Another of his family members is Steven Ioane, who also plays rugby union. Apia () is the Capital (political), capital and largest city of Samoa, as well as the nation's only city. It is located on the central north coast of Upolu, Samoa's second-largest island. The New Zealand national rugby sevens team competes in the World Rugby Sevens Series, Rugby World Cup Sevens, Summer Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games. They have won a record twelve World Rugby Sevens Series titles. The team has been officially known as the All Blacks Sevens since 1 June 2012. The team played for the first time at the 1973 International Seven-A-Side Tournament. In 1983 it first entered the Hong Kong Sevens, where it has been champion 10 times and runner-up another 10 times. The All Blacks Sevens are the current Rugby World Cup Sevens. Ponsonby RFC
Ponsonby District Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in Auckland, New Zealand. The club was established in 1874 and is affiliated with the Auckland Rugby Football Union. Ponsonby is the oldest extant member of the Auckland union, and the second oldest club in the Auckland region, after North Shore, who are now affiliated with the North Harbour Rugby Union. The men's premier team have won the Auckland Premier competition a record 45 times, including 33 times since the introduction of the Gallaher Shield, itself named after Ponsonby stalwart Dave Gallaher. Sandra Ioane ( ''née'' Wihongi, b. 12 February 1961) is a former rugby union player. She made her debut for the Black Ferns at the RugbyFest 1990 against the Netherlands, she played in the first and third matches. She was one of two women who were unable to make the 1991 World Cup. The New Zealand women's rugby union team, called the Black Ferns, represents New Zealand in women's international rugby union, which is regarded as the country's national sport. The team has won six out of nine Women's Rugby World Cup tournaments.
