The Easter Offensive, also known as the 1972 spring–summer offensive (') by North Vietnam, or the Red Fiery Summer (') as romanticized in South Vietnamese literature, was a military campaign conducted by the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN, the regular army of communist North Vietnam) against the Republic of Vietnam Military Forces, Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN, the regular army of South Vietnam) and the United States Armed Forces, United States military between 30 March and 22 October 1972, during the Vietnam War. This conventional invasion (the largest invasion since 300,000 Chinese troops had crossed the Yalu River into North Korea during the Korean War) was a radical departure from previous North Vietnamese offensives. Trần Văn Quang
Trần Văn Quang (1917 – 3 November 2013) was a colonel general (three-star general) of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN). He was a deputy chief of General Staff of PAVN and a deputy minister of Vietnam's Ministry of Defence. During the Battle of Dien Bien Phu, Quang was the head of Department of Operations.
